Windows 10 Beta And Bitdefender 2015 Compatible?

Hello!

Perhaps a little bit early, but will the bitdefender 2015 products support the technical preview of windows 10?

Thanks and bye bye.

  • Here was me thinking it was Windows 9, have we jumped one version all together?

I am sure that BD will be looking ver carefully at its compatibility with their product but it is far too early for them to give any details. I guess if you feel the need to try it is is down to you. :)

Yup - trying to distance itself from 8 as much as possible - by even skipping 9 lol

  • That news broke after I posted yesterday, whatever they decide to call it I like the way the OS is going, I find myself using my 8.1 desktop more than my 7 one - except for gaming. :P

To be honest I like Win 8, especially with Start 8 installed. It only cost a few pounds and my old start bar is back. It's been really stable and only fails when installing Bitdefender software <img class=" />

  • I have had no problems with installing Bitdefender, I have tried a few other AVs (hence I installed BDTS a few times :) ) and I have not found any to be lighter in resources or that have less effect on the speed of the computer.

Heh, cross discussions, I was answering rarester in the post above mine and it was regards Windows 8, not 10. I will not be touching 10 until the official release.

  • ok then small wrning for people who want to try the technical preview, upgrading makes bitdefender useless ad uninstalling becomes a pain + trying to reinstall doesnt work, the installer disappear and in task manager it shows downloader hanging the process for some reasons. I think it is related to accessing the internet because one of my other software cannot find an internet connexion as well

  • Well, I will check it in the next few days.

I would suggest it be a very large warning that if anyone wants to try Bitdefender, or any antivirus/software program, with what is essentially still a Windows Beta they shouldn't be surprised if it either doesn't work or there are a lot of problems.

  • yup... some AV are working though (Sophos is working for example but BD is known for knot liking windows betas)

    Hello,

Bitdefender 2015 is not compatible with Windows 10 alpha/beta/etc.

You may try to install it though, but we do not guarantee the functionality on the current preview version. Also, we do not offer technical support for Bitdefender programs installed on Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Thank you all for your understanding.

  • Thanks for confirming this Georgia. I'd understand too. Windows 10 is just a preview and it wouldn't make sense exerting time and effort to make a version compatible with it "yet". 1.gif

I think there may have been a W9 which Ballmer approved. After the Microsoft BOD booted Ballmer and Nadella took over, Nadella said Ballmers' W9 isn't going to cut it. So Nadella scrapped it thus we have W10. The further Microsoft can distance themeselves from Ballmer the better it will be for Microsoft customers and investors.

By the way. Early returns have Gates giving two thumbs up to what Nadella has done so far. In fact now that Ballmer is gone Gates has started to spend a lot more time being actively involved with Microsoft. He now has a pet project called Office 16. Use W10 TP at your own risk

Windows 10 Preview Allegedly Acting as a “Keylogger,” Keeping Track of Every Click. The Privacy Statement for Windows 10 Preview reveals some untold aspects of the new OS testing version.

    Collected data and monitored actions

First and foremost, Microsoft warns from the very beginning that the Windows Insider Program will be used to collect data about users' actions on the new operating system and goes into detail with the info that it needs to further improve the operating system.

    First, we have this:

“When you acquire, install and use the Program, Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks.”

    Then, it goes like this:

“Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage.”

And for those not yet worried that all actions are tracked, Microsoft says the following:

“When you open a file, we may collect information about the file, the application used to open the file and how long it takes and use it for purposes such as improving performance; or enter text, we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving auto-complete and spell check features.”

Basically, all of these are part of the feedback program that Microsoft really needs to make Windows 10 a better product, but at first glance, the company seems to be looking into many more details than expected.

What do you call spam, viruses and where there?

  • It is more likely to be an advertising for hits on a blog post. However, I have reported it and Bitdefender can make the decision, especially as BD say they will not have support or backup for Bitdefender AV Windows 10 preview versions. :)

  • In this blog, no advertising, and for those who want to appreciate the new platform, there is a good opportunity to test if it works bitdefender, the new operating system.

    IMHO.

another reason for skipping W9 number which carries some weight is that certain third party applications developed for windows 95 and 98 would wrongly detect the OS version because of this code line they used:

    if(version.StartsWith("Windows 9")) { /* 95 and 98 */ } else {

  • Thanks Mecuohski for the suggestion - This install method worked perfectly for me. As for using a Dev Preview, of course I do not hold Bitdefender responsible for supporting their fine TS product on a non released OS. That said I am interested in using the Win 10 Dev Preview and do wish to have the protection and efficiency of the BD product which I have an active subscription.

I previously found the install hang problem with Total Sec and Internet Sec and installed the BD free edition but found it lacking in the speed of scan and features. Happy to have this installed on my OS!

  • Mecuohski's post works great with no issues other then the flaws that bitdefender normally has
