Auto Renewed?

Options

How can I get auto renewed if I never set it up. I haven't run Bitdefender for several months now, but today I get an email that it was my auto renewal was processed. Sure enough, I looked at my credit card and it shows a pending charge that I can't dispute while in pending status. I've never set up auto renewal and honestly don't even know where I can do it on the site. I do know that I don't want it renewed. I opened a ticket that probably hasn't been looked at and if history is any indication, it may or may not ever be looked at.

    Hello Bell1,

Auto renewal is an opt-out choice, not an opt-in, when you buy the product, if you missed that at the time then that is the reason. You need to contact Bitdefender to sort this out.

  • Just my opinion, I think it's wrong for companies to do this. I mean, if it's auto renewed by default. I think 70% of the customers are not aware about this. Sure this is included in the TOS before a customer signs up but I think, morally, this should be disabled by default. Just want to vent out. 1.gif

Oh, I did, but as more the case than not, I haven't received a reply. I'll also dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Have you checked with Avangate? https://store.bitdefender.com/myaccount/

All the details will be listed there, plus there are details to contact them.

Yes I did last week and no one has bothered to answer me other than the automatic we got your email. I just opened another ticket and filed a complaint with my credit card company. Oddly enough, I got an email 2 weeks ago letting me know that my credit card on file was expired and I needed to update it f I was going to renew. I didn't bother since I wasn't going to. Apparently the expired credit card didn't slow them down.

I see this all the time. I own a Computer repair store. The longest I seen one go was 3 years a customer paid on a auto renew of McAfee he wasn't using.

Yes, it's wrong. But I'm sure they make thousands on people just going with it.

Just call your credit card company, they will flip the charges.

And don't feel bad, BD doesn't respond to my issues either.

If you originally purchased BD thru Avangate, you must create an Avangate account and deactivate auto renewal from there. You must do this every time you renew your subscription to BD. This is a very sleezy practice but unfortuneately I don't think it is illegal. BD is not the only company engaged in this type of thing but it certainly does nothing to increase my respect for the company in general.
