Please Wait While Safebox Service Initializes

edited December 2014 in Safebox

Hello,

I have installed Bitdefender total security 2015 a few days ago. A while after insallation, I tried to activate Safebox, but it gives me a loading sign and says "Please wait while safebox service initializes". It's been a few days now and still nothing changed. I also restarted a few times and even tried installing Safebox separately (found an installer in support, I think) but it says that Safebox is already installed with total security 2012(?).

Why doesn't it work?

Thank you.

    Hello,

    Welcome to the Bitdefender forums.

To run properly, Safebox requires NET Framework 3.5. Use the guideline in our article below to install and activate it:

This is a very common issues that has been around for nearly the 2015 product was introduced. Some days it works better, but many times you will get that error, sometimes for several days at a time.

    Hello,

For the 'Safebox initializing' issue please continue with the steps below:

    [step 1]

Open the Bitdefender interface > click on the human shaped icon in the upper right part of the window > select Account Info > Login with another account > type the credentials of your MyBitdefender account even though you are logged in > click on Login to MyBitdefender > retry activating Safebox.

    [step 2]

If the issue persists enable Remote Desktop Services in Windows:

    - go to Start menu and type in the Search bar services.msc then press Enter

    - in the new window locate the service named "Remote Desktop Services"

    - double click on it and hit the "Start" button, under service status (if it doesn't say already "Running")

    - next to Startup type use the drop-down menu to select "Manual", then click OK

    [step 3]

Then, while still in the Services window, scroll down to "SafeBox" and check its status:

    - double-click on the SafeBox entry and make sure the Startup type is Automatic

    - if the Service status is Stopped click Start, then restart the computer and check if Safebox works as designed

We will be waiting for your feedback and we will continue troubleshooting if still necessary.

    Hi,

I have tried all the steps. They were mostly unnecessary as all the options were as you said they should be (manual for remote desktop services, automatic for safebox, etc).

Anyway, this has not worked (even after a restart) and the problem still persists.

    Hi,

If the issue persists, most possible Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is not installed or active on your system. Safebox relies on it to work.

Make sure to install it first from the official Microsoft website (if you do not have Windows 8 or 8.1):

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21

If you have Windows 8 or 8.1 you need to follow these steps to enable .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/support/-1290.html

At the end repair Bitdefender. A detailed description on how to do that can be found in this article:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-do-...ender-1155.html

Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Hello,

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I have already tried to enable NET Framework in the past (Following your advice from January). It was enabled then just as it is enabled now. I also tried repairing Bitdefender and restarting as suggested but it did not work, the problem still persists.

I am using Windows 8.1 by the way.
