Can't Exit Rescue Mode!

So my laptop battery died and when I got it turned back on it booted up in bitdefender rescue mode and now it won't boot up normal. I have windows 8.1. But I'm at a loss on how to fix. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

    It's been awhile since you posted, but I ran into the same issue on my desktop running Win 8.1 OS and could not exit "Rescue Mode" for whatever reason. I called bitdefender tech support and although I forgot the mode I was in, the tech kept saying it must be safe mode, but after some research on my own I remembered the mode being "Rescue Mode" after reading in forum. Anyhow, the tech was no help saying that I should contact Microsoft Support as it is not a Bitdefender error or issue. My computer is new and up until going into rescue mode, I had never had any problems. Luckily for me, I created factory backup dics and what I did was select shutdown> rebooted after a minute> pressed F12 repeatedly before Dell window> was provided bootup options and selected boot from cd/dvd drive and inserted disc 1 before clicking continue> Next option I selected boot from Hard Disc and the rest is history.

    Tech said I would need to pay $99 for Microsoft support. <img class=" />

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

    Here is how to exit the Bitdefender Rescue Mode loop.

    1) Click the "Disks" icon from the bottom menu.

    2) A new window appears. In the upper left corner double click the green "sda1", 2, 3.. etc option (the sda number corresponding to C: \ drive is different for each computer).

    3) A new console appears. In the right part of the console search for the entry called "mnt /" and double click it. Go to "Program Files /". Double click on Program Files /.

    4) Double-click on "Common Files /" -> then on "Bitdefender /" -> "Bitdefender Threat Scanner /" -> "bdrescue /".

    5) Inside the folder "bdrescue /" double-click the file "efi-restore". In the next message confirm the action, then restart the computer normally and you will be able to enter Windows.

    If the above steps don't help please send us an email at bitsy@bitdefender.com

  • Another option here would be to boot up to safe mode, run a system restore and boot up at normal mode again. I think that should fix it. 1.gif
