Active Virus Control Wouldn't Stay On

My security report said I'd been 'at risk'. Virus control was off, I turned it on, but every time I checked it was off again.

Reinstalled bitdefender. What a pain; my code accepted OK, but my login gone mad and kept rejecting.

Finallly reinstalled, and virus control now stays on. But the menu is different from that on my other 2 licensed computers, with a big window to link to bitdefender dashboard, and a down arrow to link to the important stuff such as virus control.

Any idea what was going on with anti virus not staying on? And now why is the menu window ('show') different from the other 2 computers?

  • Hiya,

No idea what went on with your virus control, but rather than a re-install the first thing to always try is to run a repair - it's a lot quicker and often solves any problems. :D

Regarding your GUI window, it sounds as if you have downloaded BD 2016, that has the down arrow bottom right. It will give the year at the top of the GUI or if you righ click the icon in your task bar and choose "About" it will also give the version number.

Yes, quite right, despite using the installer link in my bitdefender confirmation e-mail from a few months back, I now have 2016 version.

I'm still puzzled and concerned as to why virus control wouldn't stay on previously. I'm also now wondering if there's any benefit from downloading the 2016 version on the other two computers.

  • Whatever you choose, 2015 or 2016 you will be covered by one of the best AV programs and both work equally well. Whilst I have now chosen to run all my computers with 2016 I did delay with one for a while as there were problems initially with 2016 (more with the "mechanics" rather than protection) - hopefully all sorted now.

Thanks again for your help. I've now updated one of the other computers to 2016, following the 'free upgrade' link on this forum.

    All running well!

Not everything is solved! All the problems returned. I've contacted the support. Let's see what happens!
