[available only in TS 2016] Where Is The Optimize Feature?

I manage a large number of BitDefender Antivirus Plus installations and licenses for my family / friends / clients, and I've gotten them all used to using the "Optimize" function in BD AVP 2015 every day to keep their system tuned up. I helped a family member renew last night and I don't see the "Optimize" tool in BD AVP 2016.

If I'm overlooking the feature, can someone please point me to it?

If they've removed the feature, then that will just simply reflect badly on BD and would be a sad / stupid / greedy move.

As far as I know that only Bitdefender Total Security 2015 came with Optimize.

    See here: http://www.bdantivirus.com/bd_product_comparison.php

Bitdefender Total Security 2016 comes with Optimize also.

  • Only Total Security 2016 comes with One-Click Optimizer, Anti-Theft, File Encryption and Startup Optimizer

    Not true.

I maintain over 20 installations of BitDefender Antivirus Plus 2015 , all of which include:

    OneClick Optimizer

    Startup Optimizer

    PC Clean-Up

    Disk Defragmenter

    Registry Cleaner

    And mother features...

See the screenshots I've attached from the very machine I'm typing this message on and you'll see.

I can't believe BitDefender has the nerve to take these features away from all of us who own multiple licenses of Antivirus Plus 2015 who have paid for the features, and I'm infuriated right now. I want an explanation so I guess I'll have to waste half my day on the phone with BitDefender Support & Sales about this B.S.

  • Even better proof than my Screenshots, BitDefender still has the Antivirus Plus 2015 FAQ / Support Center online and you can view that Optimize is included in Antivirus Plus right here on the web site and here's a screenshot of that.

  • And the best proof yet - Archive.org shows that BitDefender clearly used the Optimize feature (among others) to market and promote BitDefender Antivirus Plus 2015.

You can see for yourself what the page looked like earlier this year at https://web.archive.org/web/20150102033418/.../antivirus.html

Or if that takes too long for you to load, you can view the screenshots I've attached directly from that page.

Bottom line - we purchased Antivirus Plus 2015 based on the features it included (such as the OneClick Optimize feature) and TOUTED no less, and BitDefender has removed those features from Antivirus Plus 2016 in order to force users to buy a more expensive product.

If that's not scammy / shady business practice then what is?

And that seems OK with you?

If you chose BD Antivirus Plus 4 months ago because of the features it included, only to find they've removed those features in the new version in order to force you to spend more money, you wouldn't complain?

This has nothing to do with me, I was just letting you know that for 2016 the feature is only on the Total Security product.

However, if I had a particular version of a product and used certain features of it, the next year after the product updated I would still anticipate the same features being present. So yes, if you renewed your subscription for the same product, I understand why you would be upset.

In all fairness, all programs update all the time and they do so for different reasons. I myself have always downloaded trials or researched before I have bought a product. I also will not purchase on a particular feature because again, it could be removed at any time. Best case, always get a trial before buying that way you can be sure you like the product.

You do not have to update to 2016 do you? You can continue with the 2015 version which has all the features you paid for and still have exactly the same antivirus cover as the 2016 version, the AV dastabase/signatures are the same for all versions.

  • You do not have to update to 2016 do you?

I don't have to, no. But does it make sense? Will most people do it because they believe that's how to be current?

I knew it was only a matter of time before an "Elite Poster" would come at me with some kind of response to explain away the very bad business practice that this promotes, and the fact that it's downright unethical to do to existing customers.

I know the people who won't mind this unannounced removal of features by BD (and might even defend it) - the people who bought BD products that haven't had features removed from their 2016 versions.

And the people who will feel insulted and disgruntled and wronged by it - the people who bought products this very year which came with features that BD has removed from that same product during this same year in the "2016" version.

Rohugh - I'd love to hear the responses if the table were turned, and the users like you with Total Security upgraded to 2016 only to find some of their favorite features were removed in favor of only being able to get them by purchasing a more expensive product. Then your reactions to my thread would be a little different.

  • I was only suggesting, not approving or supporting the removal of features. As it happens they removed the tool bar/sandbox feature from 2016 TS so at the moment I no longer have that feature which I used to use - they say that the SafePay browser will do the same job, but I am not convinced, but certainly not insulted and disgruntled.

However, I still stand by my statement that the 2015 version gives you all you want so stick with that until you need to renew then make a choice of which AV to go with. During that period there are often offers on BD products and you could probably pick up a subscription for Internet Security for the same price as you pay for a renewal of AV+.

I believe you can continue to use Bitdefender AV Plus 2015. You will still get the same excellent protection and keep the features so dear to you.

Internet Security 2015 cames with the Optimize module.

I have 2 computers with Bitdefender Internet Security (Desktop "Vanilla" W10/32bit & laptop Asus W10/64bits). I did recently the upgrade to 2016 version - and I regret it.

The Firewall is blocking internet in both computers (subject to another forum, but Im using the Windows Firewall instead) and I lost the Optimize Feature <img class=" /> .

Ill try soon a downgrade to the 2015 version.

    Hello all,

This area of our forum concerns Bitdefender 2016 products only.

Please be advised that starting with classic line 2016, Tune-Up (Optimize) is available only in Bitdefender Total Security 2016. It was removed from Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2016 and Bitdefender Internet Security 2016, unlike our classic line 2015 products.
