BIt Defender 10 and Outlook

Currently evaluating BD10 with a view to replacing my current installation of ZOneAlarm and am experiencing some strange, and unpredictable, behaviour of the BD toolbar in Outlook 2007.

On starting up, Outlook 'forgets' about half the time that the BD toolbar should be displayed. It NEVER remembers the docked position and, a lot of the time, the toolbar only displays two icons - Spam and not Spam - the spam icon being disabled even if a new mail is being viewed in the inbox.

Can anyone suggest any reasons for this behviour?

  • It's not recommanded using both BD and ZoneAlarm on the same time. You should uninstall or deactivate ZoneAlarm while using BD.

I am not using them at the same time. I removed ZA completely before installing BD. I menyioned ZA only to illustrate the point that I am considering moving from it to BD - provided BD behaves iyself.

  • I'm afraid I can't give you a good reason for this behavior, but I know in another thread on this forum someone was having a conflict between BitDefender and Office 2007 apps while trying to save files over a network. Looks like there might be some problems between BitDefender and Office 2007 that the people at Bitdefender will need to look at. I don't know if anyone else is having such problems or not, but if so they need to let the BitDefender people know about it.

I know it's a pain in the butt, but if you haven't already you might try uninstalling BitDefender and then reinstalling it and see if that helps. You might also try live assist at this link and at least let them know about the problem.

    Hey Stephen,

I was looking through some of the support articles and found this one that addresses a possible problem with bitdefender and outlook. Maybe this article will give you a starting place to try and solve the problem.

  • HI There Kninejim

Thanks for the response, I'll try both your suggestions and see what happens.

  • I hope it helps. Let me know. If it doesn't, then live assist,or maybe Cris, Niels or Florin Stiuca can offer more suggestions.
