Difference Between Casual Uninstaller And The Uninstaller Tool?
Hello,
I've got a question because of the uninstallers. I have the normal uninstaller from the bitdefender program (I mean this one I find unter "Software" in Windows, that one every program contains to uninstall itself).
But I found a Uninstaller Tool from BD that you can download separately- where is the difference ???

The uninstaller tool was created for resolving certain problems with product not uninstalling properly. When certain pieces (files, drivers, reg keys) remain behind you will have to use that tool.
Check this complete information: http://kb.bitdefender.com/KB333-en--How-to...itDefender.html0 -

Thank you, my uninstallation of the old Bitdefender FREE (I installed it to test BD) seemed to work fine. How can I check for registry rests or something like that.0 -
Hello ackermännchen,
To remove the remaining BitDefender registry keys you can use Ccleaner or Glary Utilities.
Both are freewares. Ccleaner you can download here. Do not forget to uncheck yahoo toolbar box during the installation process.
Start ccleaner, press on the registry section, scan for issues, wait till the scan finished. Press on fix selected issues. If you only want to remove BitDefender entries uncheck all others. ccleaner is safe. You can make a back-up if you want.
Glary Utilities you can find here.
Best regards

@both of you: Thx a lot
@Nils: What would you prefer: Using the Bitdefender Uninstallation Tool (the special tool) or the CCleaner you recommended?0 -
Hello ackermännchen,
I prefer using the BitDefender Uninstallation Tool and ccleaner or glary utilities to remove the remaints. But infact after running the BitDefender Tool there aren't that many BitDefender registry entries left. That is what I always do.

Very curious - Now I tested it again. I installed BD and then I uninstalled via Uninstaller I downloaded before - now I got total chaos on my test-station - I am happy that I did it not on my workstation desktop:
there are a lot of rests in the registry I can neither repair BD nor change the installation nor install the program new.
Hmm whats wrong.0 -
I could fix the problem. I installed it new. But ..... nevertheless I used the tool AND uninstalled BD via the own uninstall program I still got rests on my pc (e.g. the drivers are still there, but inactive)

Hello ackermännchen,
Did you first right clicked on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock and pressed on exit? If not that can cause this kind of behaviour and also the BitDefender self protection service at that moment blocks every changes to the BitDefender installation directory untill you closed BitDefender. It could be that in your case the BitDefender self protection service didn't stop as it should be. To manually stop it do this press the windows button together with r now type devmgmt.msc press enter now go to the display/view menu and select show hidden devices now a section called non plug and play compatible drivers will appear expand that section by pressing on the +-icon now right click on BDSelfPr and choose for disable reboot now exit BitDefender and run the uninstaller and registry cleaner.
Best regards
