Ive been using BitDefender for years, have changed many systems and it always worked like a charm. Today I installed it on a new PC (mobo is MSI 250m Gaming Pro with Intel® I219-V Gigabit LAN controller in case thats the issue).
I have internet, I download the latest version of BitDefender Free (2017), it downloads/installs just fine; however if I go to "Protection" option from dropdown it says that last update time is "-", even hours after install, meaning it never performs even the initial update. This is a fresh Win 10 Pro (64bit) install; literally BitDefender is the first thing im trying to install after Windows installed and booted, so there are no conflicts.
Ive also tried using older version (1.0.21.1109) that I run on two other PCs in the house but it under "Last Updated" just says "Updating" indefinitely. Ive waited over an hour with no change, in the past this process took seconds.
I do not think its my network as I have 2 other PCs running BitDefender and they update just fine. I dont think its a software conflict since there is nothing else on the system. And I dont think its compatability as Ive tried both older and 2017 versions with same results. I am out of ideas of what to try... too bad there is no "check for updates" button anywhere to maybe force it to re-check?
I really want to keep using BitDefender; but I dont know if Iam able to? Could this be something with the Ethernet controller? Its a fairly new board (few months since it came out) so maybe its not supported yet? Ive tried using latest LAN driver from Intel (driver dated this month, Feb 2017).
Thanks for any help!
