Quick scan - different number of files scanned each time

I have quick scan set up to do a daily scan of my computer. Why do the results show less than 200 files scanned some days and more than 5000 scanned other days?

    All Bitdefender scans keep track of what files were previously scanned, and whether they were modified, and doesn't scan files that were not modified. Depending on what applications are running on the computer when the quick scan runs, you may see different numbers of files scanned as well.
