Bitdefender Free doesnt install anymore

Do you even test your software anymore?? EVERYTIME I want give this software a chance it fails terrible. Just wanted to install latest free edition again and it fails to install giving just ERROR ERROR ERROR messages with  no information about whats the error and doing a "performaing a rollback".

Rebooted tried again to install, then it "went through" but then the AV isnt enabled and clicking the toggle protection options just gives a "failed to activate protection. please retry."

  • Hello,

We are sorry to hear about this. Can you please send us a screenshot with the error? Besides Antivirus Free do you have another security solution installed?

The previous AV is Windows 10 Defender. I dont have a screenshot of this error because I removed it again. It just showed "Error" and then "performing a rollback" with a red X. Nothing more about why this happened. I then rebooted, tried again. This time, it "installed through", but then Bitdefender was totally broken, not enabled and couldnt enable itself and said "you are at risk". I then removed it again and am now on Windows Defender again.

Windows Defender recognizes your Uninstall tool ( https://www.bitdefender.com/files/KnowledgeBase/file/BD_Free_Uninstall_Tool.exe ) btw as a virus and deletes and blocks it.

    Hello,

Seems to be a false positive. Please look for remaining files from Antivirus Free in Program Files and remove the files from Temp folder and try again to install Bitdefender.

If the issue persists, please send us a Support Tool log at bitsy@bitdefender.com and let us know as well if you are logged in with an Administrator account.

  • I have a folder under C:\ProgramData\Bitdefender which contains log files it seems from the previous isntallations. Under Program Files I dont have any left.

  • Hello,

Please send us a Support Tool log at the email address bitsy@bitdefender.com to further look into this.
