No response from is website because of Bitefender sso.mediacomcable.com

Hello,

Recently I have installed Bitdefender Total Security on my PC. When I want to go to this website sso.mediacomcable.com. I get a invalid response error. Is there a feature that I can toggle on off to allow this website to come up on internet browser? This is not a browser issue as it does not work on either of them.

Thanks,

It is also not the issue on bitdefender side. The website does not opens even in PC not equipped with bitdefender.

I thought that this is a banter, this site does not open with any device, regardless of whether Bitdefender is installed or not

  • When I disable BitDefender this site works fine. Adding sso.mediacomcable.com and mediacomcable.com as exclusions does NO good.

  • When I disable BitDefender this site works fine. Adding sso.mediacomcable.com and mediacomcable.com as exclusions does NO good.

  • I am also having this problem. I switched to using Bitdefender (from McAfee) in December. GDGS' comments "When I disable BitDefender this site works fine. Adding sso.mediacomcable.com and mediacomcable.com as exclusions does NO good." seems compelling to me that it is somehow related to Bitdefender. Has a resolution or workaround been found?

  • I found that the site works fine once I turned off Bitdefender's Encrypted web scan. This can be found by selecting Protection and then Online Threat Prevention. Any suggestions on what the next step might be?

  • I added an Exception for the sso.mediacomcable.com URL and now the site works fine. Exceptions are Managed (i.e., added) by selecting Protection and then Settings for Online Threat Prevention. Not sure why this didn't work for GDGS, but it worked for me.

As told to you earlier http://sso.mediacomcable.com/ is not a valid website. The site is down and it has been verified by various URL checking website.

It only responds via Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https://sso.mediacomcable.com). When entered via HTPS it comes back with an error message response from Mediacom. But the Mediacom error message response offers back three links. Selecting the first offered link (ihelp) and then "here" will get you to the Mediacom login screen. Selecting the second link (Mediacomtoday) and then "Log In / Sign Up" also gets you to the same Mediacom login screen. And finally, selecting the third link (Support Site) and then "MEDIACOM ID" gets you to a similar Mediacom login screen. In the first two cases "sso.mediacomcable.com" is in the URL and thus it does seem to be a valid site depending on how valid is defined. It should be noted that these three Mediacom login screens don't get you to the same Mediacom user sites. Only the first one provides for email account modifications, the other two take you to your Mediacom billing account. Not sure why.

  • I will try to shed some light here myself. I also started experiencing this error when using Bitdefender. I spent some time on the phone with Mediacom first because I figured it was their issue, I mean how can a company keeping my PC safe prevent me from getting to my ISP, right? Well I actually use to work for Mediacom internet tech support and I know they hire just about anyone who can pick up a phone. I do have a comp sci degree, but couldn't take the rude customers. Anyway.....

Following are screen shots and some summary of the hopefully temporary fix. NOTE: Disabling Bitdefender by turning it off in anti-virus advanced did not fix it. I did not mess with the exception stuff because as you will see the sso.mediacom.com is not a website you are trying to reach. I believe it is just sending info Bitdefender does not like. I did all the screen shots using Microsoft edge but it does the exact same with Google chrome and Firefox.

First up the initial Mediacom page

Second is the page with the link button to enter login info that recreates the error.

    Third is the error page

Next is a page showing the ONLY setting I changed after I saw @BCD information, thanks, btw :)

And lastly the real page that is suppose to appear

Hope this helps others as a TEMPORARY fix.
