Problem Removing Rootkit Sccfg.sys

My daily scan continues to identify a rootkit file C:\sccfg.sys. I try to remove it but I am unable to with BD.

I have used other rootkit applications but some of them can't even see the file.

I am unable to change the file attribute and 'unhide' it.

Has anyone else had a problem with this file - what does it do?

I might have tried a demo / trial version some time ago but I don't have Folder Lock installed now and I haven't had it installed since I purchased BitDefender

  • Hello Andy5,

That is a leftover of folder lock. Did you removed it the correct way?

Please download killbox. Once downloaded double click on it to run it Now type in the empty field under the full path or file to delete now type this

C:\sccfg.sys select delete on reboot now press on the button that looks like a red circle with a white cross inside. You will be asked to reboot do so.

    Best regards,
