Bitdefender Anti-virus 2008 Problem

I installed Bitdefender anti-virus 2008 and everytime I turn my laptop on, it doesn't appear its icon on the startup menu. I think it doesn't work for me, but if I double click on the short cut, then it appears. I reinstalled it so many time but still the same problem for me.


sometime, it appears an error window instead which says it 's unable to run bitdefender on startup.


So, when it detects a virus, it also doesn't alert for me, I mean no screen alert message.


I think it's because of the regedit or somethings.


Please help me as I really need this software to be able to use.

    The problem might be caused by another security solution that you run and which prevents application from registering as startup items. Do you have such security applications?

  • put a shortcut to the executable in your startup folder? are you running vista?

  • XP, I did what you told by putting a shortcut to executable in my startup folder but it appear an error.

    Please try what I said in this topic.


    At boot you will never see the main screen of BitDefender.


    To be sure that BitDefender is working do this:


    Press the windows button together with r now type services.msc press enter:


    BitDefender Communicator


    BitDefender Desktop Update Service


    BitDefender Threat Scanner


    BitDefender Virus Shield


    Should all have status running (started).


    Double click on each service this how the startup type should be set:


    automatic


    automatic


    manual


    automatic


    If that isn't the case change it and press on apply and ok.


    Now press windows button together with r now type msconfig press enter. Press on the startup tab and see if you can find an entry called bdagent and IEShow.

  • yes, it's now appears and thank you for your help.


    However, I got another problem that need you to help me out.


    The problem is that when it detects a virus, it doesn't appear the alert message that it supposes to show, then it appears an error windows instead that says my Bitdefender has an encounter problem and need to be closed, after that the icon ballon in the starup bar just vanishs too and the real time protection is already marked. I dont know what to do. So i'm not sure weather my bitdefender can protect me enough. I've tried to reinstalled it several times but still the same. Thank in Advance

    Can you please do this : right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system tray press on open advanced settings, press on advanced. See if show pop-up's box is checked. Press on ok to save the settings. Close the advanced screen. Normally the antivirus section will be selected and the shield tab high lighted please press on custom level and see if show warning when a virus is found is checked. Press again on ok to save the changes.


    What operating system are you using? I mean windows xp home or pro, windows vista basis,premium,business,ultimate.

    Does the problem also occur on other user accounts? Sometimes a specific user account could have issues.


    Try to remove BitDefender by using this tool. First right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on exit. Double click on the uninstall to run it. You will be asked to reboot your pc. Make a new user account and install BitDefender from there.


    What was your previous security solution? Are you using any realtime security programs beside BitDefender Antivirus 2008? If so which?

  • I used Kapersky anti-virus 2009, but to Bitdefender anti-virus 2008 and occur this problem.


    However, if I change use other window XP, this problem seem to be sovled like XP professional, but I can't use my tablet pen with normal window. what should I do?

    Please check this topic. Run the Kaspersky removal tool and follow the rest of the instructions. See if the problem persists. First right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system tray press on exit.


    If so try a repair installation off BitDefender to do that click start,all programs,BitDefender 2008,repair or remove.

    Sorry but as a normal user I don't know anything else that I can let you to try. Windows tablet versions aren't supported if you take a look in the manual but I did some research and it only differs a little bit from the normal windows versions. The quickest way is contacting support by logging in to your account. Press on my page. My care. Under contact bitdefender press on e-mail. Run the tools that are described here.
