FTP transfer keeps restarting
Hi,
Since July 2024 I experience a problem with my FTP uploads to my Synology NAS. It seems to go super fast +300MB/s (in my case it should be 12MB/s), but then it restarts several times. I found one thread on the internet: https://community.synology.com/enu/forum/1/post/188720
but no solution. I use Bitdefender Antivirus Free, Build: 27.0.42.210
When I deinstall bitdefender, FTP upload is normal. When I reinstall Bitdefender the problem comes back.
Any help would be appreciated.

@Alexandru_BD and @camarie Help,
i have a problem with streaming media files to my Smart TV that often blocks the functionality on the PC which leads to the blocking of the entire PC and requires restarting it. Without Bitdefender installed, there is no problem. I don't know if there can be some control over file transfers in download or upload.
Thanks.Nunzio ·

Is there a particular software are you using? Something like Plex, Chromecast etc. ?

If you mean me, I simply use the Windows 10 "cast to" feature by choosing the device. I right-click on the media file and choose "cast to" I choose my Smart TV and the file is sent and starts playing, after a few minutes it happens that it freezes or using the video controls from the TV (play, pause, etc ...) it freezes. Same functionality with Windows Defender or Avast Free does not create any problems.

AFAIK the colleagues did not manage to reproduce the issue yet. Let me ask them if there is any progress.

Followup: is this about FTP, Smart TV streaming, or both?

I noticed the problem with Smart-TV, the other user with FTP.
So I would say both.Nunzio ·

A question: do you have a support ticket opened on these issues? That would help a lot.

No…If I can, I'll do it.

Ticket: If it is not too much trouble, it would be better.
Question from FW guys:
FTP (and maybe Smart TV, too): if you set Firewall to OFF (temporarily), does the problem still reproduce?0 -
I use the Plus version of Bitdefender and therefore I use the Windows 10 FW. Without Bitdefender Plus installed on the PC, but therefore using Windows defender Security + Windows Firewall or with Avast Free + Avast Firewall basic installed the problem does not exist. With Bitdefender Plus installed the transmission of the video file to the Fire TV occurs and the video starts, but after a few minutes it stops or if I command it from the TV the PC freezes, because the video player on the PC freezes and the last time the crash also created problems for me with the opening of the Em client mail client. After restarting the PC everything worked correctly even the mail client. All this happens only with Bitdefender Plus installed on the PC.

I use the bitdefender antivirus free, so no bitdefender firewall to turn off.

And when I turn windows defender firewall off I still have the same problem.
Now I see that the transfer is going with 80MB/s (should be 12). And the transfer restarts when 100% is reached because not the whole file is being transfered.0
