I'm sorry, but as a complete newbie to Windows 11 I am totally confused !

Hello @alkaisco and welcome back to the community.
When you install Bitdefender on Windows 11, Windows Defender (now called Microsoft Defender) automatically gets disabled as part of the installation process. This is because Windows only allows one antivirus program to run in real-time protection mode to avoid conflicts and potential issues.
You don't need to manually disable Windows Defender. Bitdefender will take over the real-time protection role, and Windows Defender will remain off while Bitdefender is active. If you ever decide to uninstall Bitdefender, Windows Defender will automatically reactivate itself to ensure your system remains protected.
I hope the information is useful.
