The current bit defender is light and does not slow down computer.
Hello and thank you for your feedback.
I'm glad to hear that you are happy with Bitdefender. 🙂
@Nunzio77
The strange thing is that many say the opposite, and looking at tests where a lot of malware is executed, BD uses a high percentage of CPU compared to other AVs. However, the test execution times are relatively short even though Bitdefender continues to perform cleaning and disinfection. Even using it on my PCs, even some that are quite old, I don't experience any major slowdowns. Of course, if they were to further optimize CPU usage, especially during scanning and disinfection, it would be ideal.
I think it's also about the perspective we have here, on the forum, where in most cases we are exposed to situations where users report a problem, or in this case high resource consumption. In general, I think the tendency is for positive feedback to appear less often here by default (hence me tagging you when I saw this), therefore you may be inclined to believe that there are more people who encounter such problems, than the ones who don't, or that it represents a more severe general problem. But I think we already know very well that there are many factors that can influence the resource consumption of the antivirus installed, as we've discussed this topic on several occassions on the past. Not all devices are identical, and it's true that the antivirus may cause slowdown and this is expected to some degree and unnoticeable on most modern devices. But if it causes major slowdown, then yes, something is definitely going on on that device..
Thank you for tagging me, especially since I've seen that Bitdefender users are happy with the performance and impact it has on their PC. Despite having seen many tests showing high resource usage (CPU and RAM) during scans or malware cleaning/blocking, and having read many negative posts on other forums, websites, etc., I maintain that the impact on PC performance isn't as dramatic as many claim. Obviously, I'm speaking from my own personal experience. I also know that Bitdefender's goal of optimizing resources is still being pursued, and this will certainly scare off many users who rely solely on looking at CPU and RAM percentages in Windows Task Manager. I still consider Bitdefender Free, and of course the paid versions, to be an excellent product, and even if there is a slight use of resources, it's normal, given that it's running an application that interacts with the entire PC ecosystem to protect it and the user's data and privacy.
