Although BitDefender is set to run at startup, it doesn't appear in the system tray, and neither does the Security Widget appear on the desktop. Everything was fine several days ago.
How do I fix this?
Hi @NormtheOldie
This might be a bug in the latest version or maybe you installation is corrupt, try uninstalling by downloading the bitdefender uninstaller tool: https://www.bitdefender.com/links/uninstall_consumer_paid.html
Then download the latest version form bitdefender central en reinstall bitdefender.
If after the reinstall you still don't see the tray icon and widget best to contact bitdefender support and make a ticket: https://www.bitdefender.co.uk/consumer/support/help-uk/
Hello,
I don't guarantee this will work., but it's worth trying:
Select Start, scroll to Bitdefender, then press and hold (or right-click) the app. Select More → Pin to taskbar.
If the app is already open on the desktop, press and hold (or right click) the app's taskbar icon, and then select Pin to taskbar. Then follow the steps below: Step 1: Search Bitdefender in Windows Search Option.
Step 2: After Bitdefender app comes in search result, right click on it, hover to select "Open file Location" by left click.
Step 3: This will take you to a shortcut of the app. Now right click on that shortcut and go in its "Properties".
Step 4: Under Properties tab you may find that the app icon is missing. There is an option to "Change Icon", left click on it. Then select "Bitdefender" icon.
Step 5: If you're already running the app, then the icon will still appear blank. Close the app from the taskbar. Then reopen and check if everything is back to normal.
As for the Widget, have you tried turning it ON/OFF a couple of times from the Bitdefender UI?
