Hi
Can you bring passkey/Yubikey options to 2FA sign-in Bitdefender central?
Hello @Divik32 and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
The short answer is yes, the developers plan to integrate passkeys. However, we don't have more information available at the moment.
Regards,
Alex
It has been about 14 months now and as far as I can tell there is still no passkey support for one's Bitdefender Central account. Why is it taking so long when it is a worthwhile security feature?
@Alexandru_BD
Any news on this matter? Thanks.
Hello,
Yes, I do have some updates here. The feature is still experimental, so technically not released "officially". However, you can use this link https://account.bitdefender.com/passkeys to set your passkeys. The 'experimental' label also means that not all apps support passkeys, for now you will be able to log in to the Central Web, but not using apps.
Although the functionality is not fully released yet, it's forecasted that it will become available soon.
Thanks!
@Alexandru_BD thanks for the quick reply :).

I am sorry but I am not sure what this means or implies.
I wont set up a passkey unless I am able to save it within my password manager, in this case 1Password. @Alexandru_BD do you know if right now, in the set up process that there will be a pop up prompt to save it to my existing Bitdefender Central login in 1P?
This means that passkeys are only available for when accessing Bitdefender Central in your browser. Since there's also a Central app for mobile devices, these are not compatible with that one yet.
As for saving the passkey in the password manager you are using, I must say I'm not entirely sure if that will work, but if I find out anything about this, I'll let you know.

I did do a quick try to set up a passkey for BD Central and it did not present me the option to save it to my password manager 1Password :( (as I have done with my many other passkey logins). And so I backed off establishing the passkey until Bitdefender incorporates this into its final release.
