  • It appears you are infected with a SmithFraud virus. Please download SmitFraudFix here: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php and follow the instructions on the site.

    Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe

Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Also, download Hijackthis here: http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/th.../hijackthis.php. Install and run a System Scan with Log and post the contents of the log here, with the Smithfraudfix log.

It's just a stupid rogue (bad) software.

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=1497

  • it would be cool if bitdefender would protect us against this because in the future i'm pretty sure bitdefender users will be mad if they get this. so please bitdefender protect us from this stupid virus!!!

  • Download Spyware Doctor from here

    its very good anti spyware.

  • It's not SmitFraud, it's Win32.Agent.gvu. I had it just yesturday, and i got awfuly ###### when my BitDefender Total Security 2009 couldn't detect it. We ARE talking about the best ranked protection suite according to http://www.toptenreviews.com/

How can it not detect this two bit virus/malware or whatever it is?

Don't waste your time with Spyware Doctor.

Download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. It's freeware, and it scanned and cleaned my system within 5 minutes.

I had scanned with SpyBot Search-n-Destroy at first, but it could only detect the spyware, but couldn't remove it.

It would be nice if BitDefender staff would check this topic and update the virus/spyware definitions with this particular threat.

David G ,the Avira "wonder" ,in free version ,doesnt protect against spyware.

Usually an antivirus ,at least for the moment, is best to be doubled by 1-2 antispywares and thanks god there are good ones as free.

Remember ,when you find a threat in your computer ,zip it and post it in this forum section. If you know the site where you got it place the zipped link also.

Use MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to clean this rogue. :)

Do a full system scan with it :)

I've send the file to the lab. :)
