Unable To Install Microsoft Security Updates
I keep getting Microsoft update security notifications, and my Bit Defender 09 just installed, stops the installations. It reports it being installed and re boot_s and comes up again? How do I disable the program to allow the updates.

You have two options, a. turn bitdefender (whatever edition you own) to game mode or b. set the firewall and antivirus to basically off. Had an issue once where bitdefender firewall wasn't let microsoft update install updates for microsoft office 2007 so turned off the firewall and the updates installed perfectly.

No, it does not work. Says "access denied". I am the only user and admin of this system.0 -

Problem solved. Access is denied because of user account control. You need to run an elivated command prompt to avoid this. go to accesories and right click on comand prompt and chose run as administrator. then type the command found in the microsoft bulletin - ren %windir%\System32\msxml4.dll msxml4.old see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941729. then install the update.
I did not have to restart in between, i did not have to manually install either - just used auto update. More info can be found here http://www.vistabanter.com/149948-kb9554430.html#post768252 but as I said I did not have to do many of the elaborate steps mentioned in that forum.0
