Bitdefender Is

Hey guys, I just purchased BitDefender Internet Security v10. I see that it covers a lot of things including anti-spyware, but are these other programs good or are others better? I'm really asking about spyware here. I know BitDefender is awesome as far as the anti-virus, but would it be wise to get another anti-spyware program that focuses on spyware?

  • BD is not focused on antispyware, however, it detects many of them, BUT not all. I suggest you download and use SuperAntiSpyware too, which is free and use it with BD. BD will cover real-time anti-virus protection and antispyware protection, but won't detect all spyware threats.

  • Hello

If you want to prevent malware installation you can also install spywareblaster:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html This is not a scanner but it prevent that known malware could install itself. If you use that in conjuction with superantispyware free and BitDefender than you may conclude that you are almost safe. You can download the free version here : http://downloads2.superantispyware.com/dow...AntiSpyware.exe and spybot search & destroy:

If you really want to buy an antispyware these are the best: Counterspy,Spyware Doctor,SuperAntispyware professional,Spy Sweeper,Zero Antispyware

  • i actually think spy sweeper is the best, but from my experience with my computer, it tends to conflict with programmes. it has fabulous detection ability. i recommend keeping it off the startup list and use it as an "on demand" scan. every time you use the GUI it gets back on the startup list. if you use it this way, it won't conflict.

the last i recall there was a link at komando.com where a two year deal could be purchased for $30.

That is a little confusing to me. If BD is not focused on antispyware, then do not market a standalone antispyware program (v9) and just incorporate the scan engine in with the virus product. Although, I know that they have done this already. But still, the standalone product is bothersome if they are not focused on it. And it appears to me that more and more security suites are amping up their antispyware scanning capabilities.

  • BD is not a stand-alone AntiSpyware, though it still detects many spyware threats. By this you don't have to believe that you aren't protected, because BD will protect you against all kind of malware, including many spywares. Running a scan from time to time with a antispyware suite makes your computer more secured. :)

There is a stand-alone antispyware BD product, you can find it here. Thank you Cris for telling me. :)
