  • We all know that problem comes from the latest major update in May. So don't try to argue with poor arguments like the length of the source code. I can't understand why they can't come back to an earlier build or quickly solve the concerned code. And as you said, when we have 10 millions of users, we try to test a major release on more than 10 machines, especially when we talk about security software. And as the GUI bug can crash the entire program, I think the correction of this bug should be a top-level priority. The actual situation is dishonorable for BD, imho…


    This isn't true, a GUI problem won't crush the entire program. I left BD with it's GUI crushed for about 6 hours and there wasn't any problem at all, all systems were working. I personally don't fell like this would be the end of the world. It is so easy to speak when you don't know what actually is happening. If BD guys had the solution, we wouldn't have this problem anymore. There are too many factors which must be taken into consideration. It is obviously that they are working on it. ;)

  • Well tomorrow it's about to be launched BD Total Security 2008, so maybe the fix is delayed because the BD programmers are concentrating all their powers on Total Security. :)

  • In my machine(2 machines: one AMD one Intel, both XP SP2), this problem is cause by network Firewall, if you tuned it off, BD will never crash, if you turned it on, it will crash when some new or logged program accessing the web. Maybe could help you to locate the source of bug.


    BTW, I'm a programmer too, I don't think the UI crash is a very small thing, UI is the only thing your user interact with you, they don't know the engine. If the UI crash, that means the software is down, user don't care whether the engine is still running at the background. This critical bug exists so long(about 2 month) and hasn't been fixed, I don't think it's the way of a large company do things.

    When you met the GUI problem , which language windows system do you use? English or others?


    Is that the bug issue related to the language system we use? I am using the English windows XP ,but I change some settings in the control panel(language section) to be able to read Chinese language, because sometimes i have to use Chinese for my work

    agree with Rocky. The broken GUI can be a nuisance when a program is asking to be installed and the 'allow/disallow'thingy is broken I couldn't even choose the option!!


    I have English winxp pro with chinese language installed too, sometimes I need to input the language


    Intel bases system here. Just wondering what could be the cause.


    My win firewall has already been turned off .

    As said in the French part of the forum, the bug will not be corrected until the final version of BD11 comes out, because the developers haven't time to correct the bug, they are working on the version 11 beta.


    The Bitdefender partner, Florent, is offering a new key for Bitdefender Internet Security 10 in exchange of your actual key for Antivirus Plus 10, with the same duration as your actual key + 3 months for free.

    I had no way of knowing this info, because I don't speak French, therefore I don't read the French section of this forum. I don't know if there are any other mods who know French besides Florent. (if there are, I appologize to them :) )

    I am waiting for his reply too. I am just wondering whether the BD IS key we exchange is valid for renewing in the future or not?


    Does the "bitdefender partner" mean he is the reseller of BD products <img class=" /> ? Sorry for my stupid question..

    You can ask this question on LiveAssistance (www.bitdefender.com/live-assistance). Choose for Customer Service. It might be a good idea to give them a link to this topic ;)


    As far as I know, BDv11 will be released in a few months (I don't know the exact date).

    So... I understood that the french customers get a free upgrade from BD Antivirus Plus 10 to BD Internet Security 10 + 3 months of updates. Does this apply for all other customers ? I bought my BD Antivirus Plus v10 in Germany. Do I get a free upgrade also ?


    I am aware that Softwin offers free upgrade from BitDefender Antivirus Plus v10 to BitDefender Internet Security 2008. But I find the new 2008 version too imature for my taste. So...it is possible that I , a german customer, get what the french customers get ? :rolleyes:

    You can update for free so long that your license is still valid. That is the case for all the language versions.


    First you have to uninstall the previous version by downloading this tool. Reboot your pc afterwards.


    Here you can download the German version. This is for 32 bit windows versions. Here you can download the manual. Install the new version and enter your same license key and also your my account information.

    I think that you didn't understand my question...


    The french customers get a free upgrade from BitDefender AV Plus v10 TO BitDefender INTERNET SECURITY v10. I don't want to upgrade to the new 2008 version because, in my opinion, it is too unstable and there are still many bugs to be fixed on that version.


    So.... I will repeat my question: I have a BitDefender Antivirus Plus v10 license. The GUI bug wasn't resolved... So... As you can read above the french customers can change their AV Plus 10 KEY for a IS 10 KEY + 3 more months subscription service. Do the german customers get the same thing ???
