Bd09 Problem: Scans Don't Work. Tried Patch, Reinstall, Etc.
Okay, here is my problem, it is very extensive and exhausting.
I got bitdefender 2009 a while ago, and everything was fine.
Soon after, I was unable to perform any full system or deep system scans. The status bar at the top has been red for A VERY LONG time now. Currently it says there is 1 pending issue, and that issue is "The last system scan you started was stopped before it finished." Before that, it used to say that I had never performed a system scan before, but I changed that by doing a my document scan or something, which didn't do anything at all.
Whenever I try to click deep scan or system scan, NOTHING HAPPENS. No popup, no error message, nothing. Its like I didn't even click it or something. Thats complete cow-dung.
If I go to advanced view > Antivirus > Virus scan , I have nothing under system tasks, two user tasks (my documents scan, and one I created by myself), and under misc tasks I have Contextual scan and Device detection. I can run a my user tasks, but they dont show anything.
I can also run a manual scan, by going to start > all programs > bitdefender 2009 > Bitdefender manual scan ,but it dosn't actually "run." It will just pop up with the end screen telling me no issues were found.
I download spybot search and destroy and malwarebyte's anti-malware and they both found threats to my computer. These scans were run AFTER I did a user scan that i created myself, with everything selected.
I have downloaded and used the pach which was found here : http://kb.bitdefender.com/KB547
Alas, it did nothing but make the red status bar green for a couple seconds, before it revereted back to red and showing a pending issue.
I have read many threads and all of them are completely useless to me. Nothing has helped my situation.
SO, I paid around $100 for Bitdefender, and it is not working at all. I paid $0 for freeware, and it is doing a better job than bitdefender.
Please tell me that I have not wasted my money on bitdefender, and that it isn't a completely useless bit (haha?) of junk.
At this point I don't even know if bitdefender is trustable. Is it doing ANYTHING to protect my computer, or is it just sitting there hogging my resources.
I really had high hopes for bitdefender, but so far it has only let me down.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, help me! I am sick and tired of this program right now.

Please disable the User Account Control (http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm) then reinstall the patches and that will solve the issue.0 -

I am having exactly the same problem and have tried doing this several times - yet it still does not work - despite trying to do a weekly scan since purchasing the software a couple of months ago it still says I have never peformed a scan. Short of uninstalling this product and buying a new product (which I a loathed to do having spent £50 already on this).
Pleeeeeeease does someone have an answer????0 -

Hi,
Followed your instructions as last post from above link but..... - managed steps 1&2 but got to step 3 and there was no file with that name only supporttooldll.dll - double clicked on it just incase it was same but wouldn't open so could go no further.... any other options or am I missing something? PS you are dealing with a non technical computer wizz just incase you don't know so need to be very basic with instructions!
Thanks
1. Open My Computer.
2. Browse to
C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2010
- considering that BitDefender was installed on the default C partition
3. Doubleclick on the supporttool.exe file .
4. Click on Next, wait a few minutes for the progress bar to complete and then click on Finish.
5. Go to the desktop and upload the file that was created by the SupportTool on http://www.sendspace.com/, then send me a PM with the download link.0 -

Since this topic has gone quiet some time ago I presume that Courvoisier and sarahlou have solved their problems. Therefore I request assistance with an identical problem on my xp pro desktop system. I am running bitdefender antivirus 2009 and my issue is identical to Courvoisier's first post on this topic.
I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, even upgrading to 2010 on two seperate occasions to no avail. In fact 2010 develops the exact same issue that is prevalent on 2009. I only run bitdefender on my system so i cannot think of any conflicts. I used to run registry cleaner and now I use easycleaner (sparingly and excluding any registry string that refer to bitdefender)
Thats about it. If any more info is needed, just ask. I'd really like to get Bitdefender working 100% again.I've always had good results with it and besides. ITS BOUGHT & PAID FOR!! lol " />

Okay, after some research on these forums, I followed through on other people's suggestions and managed to fix my problem. It was Nero7 Incd. Uninstalled it and everything's 100%.
I believe you can reinstall Nero as long as incd is not selected you're good to go. Will do that later and report back.0 -

Will shortly move to BD2010. Found that disabling Windows user account control just prior to scans allowed it to run. After scans, enabled Windows user account control for added protection.
