Help Something Happens When I Install Bitd Internet Security 2009

half way throught the installation..during the writing system registry values part. Bitdefender stops and says


"could not write value Device to key \.DEFAULT\Software\SetID/Internal" Verify that you have sufficent access to that key or contact...


they gave me 3 option 1.cancel 2.retry (which cant work cos it brings back to the same pop up) 3. Ok


what do i do?

    Please I have the exact same problem and im running windows vista home premium 64-bit edition. it shows the error message described by the previous post. Please help!!!

    Please disable UAC in Vista before trying to install BitDefender (or make sure that you run the installer with Administrator privileges). If that doesn't work, please post what other security software you have currently installed (or had installed and removed).

    the last one I installed was bitdefender total security 2009. I uninstalled it and can't reinstall it again. I tried disabling uac and using administrative privileges but it still did not work.

  • Please use the BitDefender Uninstall Tool to completely remove any traces of your previous installation.


    Make sure you run this tool with Administrator privileges and also restart your system after using this tool. Then try to install again and see if it works.

    Please follow the steps bellow and let us know what happens:


    1. Go to Start -> Run , type regedit then click on Ok .


    2. Browse to the next location : HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\ and right click on the SetID registry entry . Choose Permissions then click on the Advanced button that you will find there .


    3. Here , click on the Owner tab , select the user you are using and check "Replace owner..." and click on Apply .


    4. Open the Auditing tab , check "Replace auditing entries..." and click on Apply .


    5. Open the Permissions tab check "Replace permission entries..." and click on Apply .


    Right click on SetID and select Delete. After this, save and run the uninstall tool from the next link : http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall and reinstall BitDefender 2009.

    Please try the steps bellow and let us know what happens :


    1. Open BitDefender and SWITCH TO ADVANCED VIEW;


    2. Select the Antivirus module on the left and go to the "Shield" tab;


    3. Click on the Custom Level button;


    4. Make sure the following items are NOT checked:


    - Scan http traffic


    - Scan Yahoo Messenger traffic


    - Scan Windows Live Messenger traffic


    5. Click on the "OK" button in apply the changes.
