[solved] Cannot Access Home Network After Installing 2010 Total Security

Using Windows XP. Upgraded to BitDefender Total Security 2010 recently and my home network stopped working. I can only access the other computers if I disable the firewall.

BitDefender sent me instructions to re-install the firewall, which I did, but it didn't solve the problem. I am awaiting a reply from BF but meanwhile thought I would post here to see if anyone has come across this issue before.

  • Hello Edelia,

    On all of your computers please open BitDefender in Expert Mode, choose the Firewall module and perform the following changes :

    1. Select the Network tab in the upper menu and click on the current "Network Type", pull down the drop-down menu and select "Trusted Local", Stealth to "No" and Generic to "Yes".

    2. In the Zones area please click on the "+" sign and add the IP address of the local device that you are trying to connect to;

    3. Please go to the Status tab, click on the "Advanced Settings" button and check the option called "Enable Internet Connection Sharing" .

    Let us know what happens .

    Thank you.
