I have the same problem, I installed the software and I couldn't connect to the internet...I disabled the firewall and it the internet was there again... after spending an entire day with tech support, un-installing and re-installing, downloading programs to create reports, emailing the reports and on and on and on they still can't get it to work. So if there is some kind of "magic" email can I PLEASE get a copy as well and maybe you could send one to your tech support ?

I have the same problem. I have already installed the program twice, no luck. Can´t activate, can´t update.
Can-t access internet pages that have a password, either. Why could this be happening ?
I installed the same program in another computer, and it it is running OK.
There is one hitch, though: In the first deep system scan, it went through more than 4 million objects, skipped more than a million, and took almost 4 and a half hours to do it. I wonder if it went into a loop.
The second deep scan went through 2,430,000 + objects, skipped almost 2 million, and still took over 2 and a half hours.
The previous version I used (v.10) did a deep scan in a little over an hour, if I remember well.
In this computer updates worked well after installing a second time.
The setting for the program are exactly the same in both computers.
I am evaluating the 2009 and 2010 versions, to see which one I will keep. So far, it looks like 2009 is winning.
Would very much appreciate your help to solve these issues. Thanks.0 -

I am trying to activate the trial version of Internet Security 2010. Mcafee has already been uninstalled and Windows Firewall is not enabled. I am running Windows XP Pro. I keep getting this message: Activation failed because no internet connection was detected. My cable internet is fully functional. I tried disabling BitDefender firewall with the same result. How can I fix this?

I installed BD 2010 over BD 2008 and it won't connect to the internet. It registered the product fine and found my account info, but it won't even let me set the program to "Automatic Update".0 -
ok this is the second time i;m having this problem. My bitdefender 2010 will not update and i can't set to update automatically. this is becoming very annoying and am seriously thinking about asking for a refund as the product clearly doesn't work properly.
can someone give me a permanent solution please, not just a quick fix!

After the Major Update today, when BD tries to update, it says it cannot connect in order to update.

Just to mention that I am not connecting through proxy servers and I have tried to change the update servers to the alternate servers.

Excuse the triple post ...
After a couple of restarts, it seems that the problem has disappeared. Not sure how, but BD's connection with the update server has been restored and the updates are coming in normally.

Exact same problem. Please send me whatever steps are required to get past this problem. I just purchased this product and I would think connecting to the Internet would not be a difficult thing for it to do.

BDS blocs my internet connection too. I wrote few times to support, but they don't answer from 5 days. I installed and deisnstalled BDS many times. I asked how can I receive my cash back. I think that it is main reason why they don't answer. I don't want to pay for Internet Security without firewall.

Exact error please read below. Anyway i'm under a company proxy server that is not restricting anything. Everything is working fine until the Major update that happened the other day which turned BD to .18 version but when asked to reboot it downloaded some file again ask me again to reboot and when i checked the version reverts back to .17 then i started to unable to update. Tried reinstalling everything that's why i'm reactivating the license key.

Update works fine (tried it just now);
Product key was accepted without a hitch;
I already have a BD account which I created online, but when trying to activate using the "Sign in (previously created account)" option I get the same error message as gabrielx1925 (below)."BitDefender activation failed!

The update stopped working two days ago. I am registered and have not loaded anything the last couple of days. The update simply is not working, seems to be the same issue as reported by many since this post began. As it's checking for updates, it does not go past 0%, and ultimately the update fails. I have to say I have had more troubles with Bit Defender than I did for 5 years using Norton. Additionally, I have yet to ever receive a reply from any of my posts.

Well i decided to update to latest build, but i like the others got the non connecting issue, but i think i know why(in my case ) as i have the firewall set to "report" the first time or so any thing that needs/wants internet access,BD should display a pop message for the user to allow or deny the connection,but it was not doing this at all?, hence no connection possible,unless i set the firewall to "allow all"or spend hours manually adding each app to the firewall rules (which i am not gonna do) so I'm back to using my trusty old build of bd is 2010 (build 13.0.16) i now have a machine running win7 x64 ultimate that I'm setting up for a friend who wants bd installing on it, so i may need a old build of the x64bit bd is 2010 13.0.16 anyone have it?
