I have attempted to avoide this issue by deleting uiscan.exe, but u can't, you can't even rename it.
Its also not started as a seperate service, so I cant block it that way, it seams some process in bitdefender starts it, but what?
This process is worse than any virus, which effectivly makes bitdefender worse than any virus, at least viri don't completly clog your machine!!
Does anyone have any idea how to block this thing?0 -
Update:
I have been messing with this (real headache) but I`ve got somewhere, I managed to disable uiscan & the issue remained.
What I discovered was that for somew reason (updates??) when bitdefender starts it causes ntdvm.exe to run, that clashes with bdagent.exe & creates the issue, if you stop bdagent.exe running in the startup but only run it when you need, the issue is gone. BUT you now only have access to Basic settings, but at least the pc can work!!
Is there any chance tech support could look into this? Any at all??0 -
Hello Sam234,
uiscan.exe shouldn't automatically start at system startup, unless you enabled the Auto-logon scan task. How did you manage to "disable uiscan"?
Also, ntvdm.exe is not a part of BitDefender products, but a part of the Windows operating systems. This process exists only on 32bit Windows versions, not on 64bit ones.
ntvdm.exe (NT Virtual DOS Machine) is a process that allows 16bit applications to run in a 32bit environment (which is also the reason why it's missing in 64bit systems). BitDefender doesn't have 16bit modules, so there is no direct reason why ntdvm should run once BitDefender Agent is started. Automatic BitDefender Updates are performed strictly by the BitDefender Desktop Update Service (livesrv.exe) in combination with some other BitDefender modules.
To have a clearer view of what's happening, please reproduce the problem and then run the 2 tools presented here: http://kb.bitdefender.com/KB490
Upload the 2 logs on a file sharing server of your choice (like www.sendspace.com) and send me the download links by PM.

I'll look at those, however currently all is OK.
I first attempted to disable uiscan with my sandbox, but that failed, so I disabled by deleting it (through linux) & replacing with a blank file.
However, following my previous 'fix' BD did a auto-update & put back uiscan.
My sandbox is now able to block the new uiscan!!
I have not enabled Auto-logon scan and can't even find the setting, I had the issues with bd in the as supplied settings. uiscan still runs on boot.
I note since the last update ntvdm.exe no longer runs, I am wondering if there was a corruption with uiscan or other files that caused ntvdm.exe to run & create the issue(bdagent is also replaced). The original files are as on the DVD BD came on.0
