Do you have admin rights on your system? You should also make sure that you have completely removed any other security product previously installed. View Niels's topic here on how to remove any other security software from your system. After that, you can try to reinstall BD.

I too am having the same problem (vsserv.exe error/permissions) as listed above. I removed Norton AV by their method and proceeded to install BD V10. Got as far as the vsserve.exe stage. I am logged in as admin, I have re-booted, and generally tried everything else I can think of including trying to start the BD service via the services module (I get an error saying that the operation timed out waiting for BD). I am running XP Pro.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello
Try this go to start, run type gpedit.msc press enter expand Software Restriction Policies. You have to make a Path rule where you referring to X:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\vsserv.exe Change X by the letter of your hard disc or partition where windows is installed on.

ok i just looked in that and this is what it says
No Software Restriction Policies Defined
this group policy has np spftware restrictions directly on it. you can define such policies, but they will override policies by parent objects.
to defing software restriction policies, in the action menu, click create new policies.
ok when i try clicking action at the top nothing comes up.0
