Fishing Bitdefender Renewal Sites

My 2 year license ended this weekend which i was reminded of regularly. The weird thing was that instead of going to the bitdefender.com domain i was rerouted to

http://bitdefender.eptimum.nl/index.php?updunivers=10

And one other domain. This is when using the standard bitdefender, go here to renew etc. buttons.

Now, as some of the functionalities of this site are REALLY sloppy i became wary of putting in my cc info etc. I had to go to the bitdefender site manually to renew.

Is this a official bitdefender site? or a actual fishing site?

I do not know. Maybe Bitdefender sells or upload its software through this company.

And if you already got a license, you could be allowed to open your account in Bitdefender, or if you lost your password, you ask for it, a way to check the site is genuine and not a fake...

it seems to be the best way to check if the site is safe.

I def. did NOT download bitdefender from a reseller site. I hope you can clear this up.

Catalin was cautious, and Cristi Raducu gave you the right answer. And you are fully right to be extremely cautious too... Phishing procedures are more and more sophisticated. But the link is genuine indeed.

What I probably missed, it is because you were rerouted from your BD software. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention to this point.

Could a malware redirect a link from someone's clean security software? Well, if it could happen, it means the security software - the computer as a fact - has been spoiled first by the malware, conclusion the whole system is unsafe first. Or could it be done outside the firewall and the box? it could mean the reseller's link is not safe as well. That I do not know.

However you got your answer from BD's fellows. The point.
