Bitdefender Total Security 2010 Won't Update
Hi there, i am new to this website but i have been using bitdefender for years..
so here it is:
for about the last week bitdefender won't update, however in the past it had perfectly.
i tried disabling bitdefender's firewall to see if it would allow it to update, but it was unsuccessful.
down below i attached a picture in which showcases what my bitdefender looks like after it had tried to update...
any help would be extremely appreciated!
Thanks.

Nope. I'm afraid it didn't work. same thing as before., however in the picture i attached below, it says that the last update was today (which i know it didn't update) but i think the engine version and virus signatures are not up to date.. i'm thinking about reinstalling it, any other ideas?0 -

Hello Allenssmart,
In order to solve the update issue please follow the steps bellow :
1. Download the "support.exe" tool from the next link : http://www.sendspace.com/file/dv3nig . Do not run it yet.
2. Start your computer in Safe Mode.
- restart the computer;
- repeatedly press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins
to load (you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu);
- select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".
- wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation
message; click "Yes" to acknowledge.
3. Run the tool downloaded earlier then reboot your computer normally .
4. Try to update BitDefender and let me know if the same issue occurs.

I'm sorry but the problem persists. This is what happened: I did a manual update. Checking for update to 100%, then it starts downloading. When it's finished downloading, it loops back and starts checking for update at 0% and goes to 100% and downloads and loops again. I think after the third loop I get the same exclamation mark again. I went into the log and I have attached what it looks like.

Same here, only a problem on my Windows 7 machine, not vista...
Anyone else think it's time to switch antivirus software?0 -
More infos: i suspect update looping doesn't affect update itself! I rebooted the system and antivirus engine and virus signs versions changed so i think the antivirus is still updated even the updating procedure is looping!

Hi Edta long and Badex,
You both have Win7 64bits?
If you look for this problem, someone claimed to have found the issue a long time ago, the address of the server that was changed... and a small modification to settle the issue.
Maybe? Bitdefender should answer fast now then...
Maybe not... the message could have been a fake or a phishing line too... I simply suspect it to be too old to be useful now. Besides, I do not have your problem (I have BD IS 2010 32bits) my updates are fine, so BD server's address has not moved. i do not think the company has plenty of server's addresses to deliver.
maybe an issue with W7 64b... either a microsoft's or BD's update...
I hope BD will answer you soon.

Hi edta long and Badex ,
Maybe you'll find the solution in BD's knowledge base?
good search and cautious install...

Hi,
First and foremost note that you need to accept and run the executable file in the third screenshot. Furthermore follow the steps below and try to update again:
1. Open the BitDefender Security Center and switch to advanced view.
2. Go to "Updates" tab then click on the "Settings" sub-menu.
3. Under "Advanced settings" please make sure that the boxes next to "Don't update if scan is in progress" AND "Don't update if Game Mode is on" are NOT checked.
4. Click on the 'Update Now' button.
Please let me know if the issue persist.

I've done that several times yet no solution to update. and the funny thing is, check my second attachment above and see on the certificate information. It has expired that why. From 25-Jan. 2008 - 25 jan. 2010. Bitdefender needs to update the attachment report of the third attachment.
i've given up to this problem of not been able to update and thinks otherwise.0 -
I have escalated the certificate issue and it is taken care of as we speak. What is the error message you receive when you try to update ? When exactly are you asked to run the wscfxav.exe file (third screenshot) ?

Even now as am speaking still showing, in fact let me give you a screenshot of that. Paris time now.
Send me the link to the resolved certificate issue to replace the old one.
Thanks in advance.

Hey I am running on windows 7 64-bit OS currently having bitdefender total security 2010, and i get exactly the same looping problem as what previous users have posted, based on their screenshots (a red exclamation mark after update with no error message whatsoever). I have tried applying the patch but alas, to no avail. I can now only do manual updates which is updated only weekly.
What other steps should i take?0 -

I have been searching around this forum for the past few days looking for solution for this exact problem. Before that, I have tried other method mentioned in other threads such as suspending the firewall, replacing xml file but to no avail. My problem is similar to the one mentioned by Venturer. I'm seeing that update was downloading and after 99% it starts again. The loop repeats a few time before giving me the exclamation mark.
I have this problem about a month ago and the current antimalvare engine properties states that:
virus signatures: 6149672
Engine Version: 7.333660 -
