I've had problems with updating for the last week or so. Either the loading symbol goes around forever or else, like you, I get the exclamation mark icon with no error message. I tried resetting the firewall rules and restarting. Next I tried reinstalling the software but to no avail. This has been driving me nuts. I can't seem to find a solution anywhere. <img class=" />

    Hi badex and Whity,

can't stay too late tonight, I'll answer a bit fast.

    1) Give details on your system. It will help BD technicians.

    2) Do you have access to internet in spite of this problem? Is your IE, FF, Chrome or Opera fine?

    3) Do you use a proxy to surf on internet? (proxy rules should be activated or deactivated on both soft (Bitdefender and IE or FF)

    4) What happened last week? (for Badex) Do you suspect a malware? downloaded something nasty?

Maybe download your bd version on the hard disk from BD, switch off internet line, make a full deinstallation of your BD soft (through its program) (not a simple repair )scratch what is left of the old program - to be found with CCleaner. Then install the bd you downloaded (it should be clean - if we put aside the malware possibility) and only after that go to internet to check the update.)

    good night,

    :)

    Hi Whity,

Give details about your system (windows, internet provider,...) indications to BD helpers.

example: you can see most of my details. :) we do not have the same BD version (I have BD IS 2010 not BD IT 2010) but I do not think it makes the difference and no problem whatsoever.

Did you try to download the BD software, deinstall the soft with internet off and install the latest BD downloaded soft?

What did you install before the problem appeared? A new firefox module? anything? ( even if you do not think it is a malware... and you say you're sure you are 100% vurys free... it could make a mess with BD or your other internet software).

No rules changed in BD's firewall rules?

You said you tried almost everything, well... it does not leave a broad range of solutions...

    regards,

    L.

    Hi badex and Whity,

    For Badex

You will find the generic malware you named in an old message in google... it could only be suppressed with its directory. maybe the name is generic, so we do not know really what is it.

    For Badex and Whity.

You could check your hard disk, the presence of malwares is possible.

What I do with my friend's disks: I take off the hard disk and plug it(*) as an external storage on a clean, well-protected (**)computer and we analyze the hard disk. Usually we find some bad stuff...

    Try it.

    Regards

    L.

(*)the small material is not expensive.

(**) in addition to the updated antivirus soft, I use malwarebytes's antimalware, (free edition) it is useful.

Then download the bd file, cut the internet line, fully deinstall the bd soft, install the new one...

OK, I wrote too fast to both of you. I forgot to notice you're sure you are safe, good news.

What do we have left besides Bitdefender and Windows 7 or maybe the wireless connection? (or another soft...)

I do not have W7 and I use ethernet, I can't talk about wireless connection, maybe there is a bug of the wireless connected to Bitdefender network?

Could you reinstall previous settings?[/b] at least before your trouble came?

That kind of function was installed with XP, it could me more accurate maybe with W7.

With XP, it is clear that if we go fetch old saved settings we have to reinstall antivirus software. Anyway.

At least, we do not lose too much time doing that.

Did you try to reinstall a previous restauration?

    Good night,

Question: have you used our uninstall tool to completely remove v2008?

If not you can run it from: http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall and install back 2010.

I'm asking because you might have leftovers of 2008 still on there.

Actually, my bd got removed cause of my OS Changes. I formated my disks and so on.

  • I see.In this case can you tell me what's the build version of your BitDefender (right click on the icon and About).

  • I didn't have an older bitdefender installed. The build version is 13.0.21.347

  • It also looks like quite a large update. Take a look at the screenshot.post-35433-1279982582_thumb.png
