Hello Bhimani,
Hello all,
In order to solve this issue please be so kind as to make sure you uninstalled any other security solution you might have on the same computer (any spyware removal, Ad Aware, Spybot or any another antivirus).
Having more then one security product installed on the same PC can degrade performance and cause system instability. Even if they are turned off, there are some active processes running in the background. We recommend you to uninstall all the other security solutions in order for BitDefender to work properly. We also recommend you to run a registry cleaner on your computer in order to improve the system performance.
If the issue still persists please follow the steps from this link in order to provide us with the reports we need for further investigation.
The reports will be sent directly to our Technical Support Team and you will receive an automatic reply shortly. Please send me a PM with the ticket ID from the Subject of the e-mail so that I may analyze the reports and send you a solution as soon as possible.
Kind regards,0 -

Hi EliteGamer,
Just to remind you common issues we have with these features.
I only have Windows XP (not Vista nor Seven) but the problem is maybe the same.
1) It is necessary to let windows firewall deactivated to be able to use Bitdfender firewall activated and do the updates.
2) Your laptop... I suppose it is a brand computer? HP, Compaq, Acer,... Brand computers are loaded with "free" software usually including antimalware products (firewall, antivirus). It is necessary to fully desinstall the old antimalware software.
Rule: 1 firewall per system and only one, 1 antivirus per system and only one.
Maybe you already did it? O.K I just asked...
Thanks for the details, it will help BD support, and have a nice day,

Yet again ANOTHER problem done by bitdefender. Why does it seem like every few months I'm back here seeing major problems I encounter with new updates to this program. Please bitdefender do your testing BEFORE you release these updates.

- is the Windows firewall enabled or disabled ?

I am having this problem also.
Past products I have used are McAfee, (Used removal tools) Nortons Trial, (used removal tools), BitDefender GameSafe, (only uninstalled trough remove programs) and now I am trying to use Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 which is where I am having the problem. I am using the trial version. I am wanting to switch companies from McAfee and BitDefender was pointed to me by a friend. I plan on getting this if i can get it to work
http://www.bitdefender.com/KB391
I have already done that.
Is there a removal tool I need to use to delete GameSafe??? I removed it because it wasnt compatible with my version of windows. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
It keeps saying I have 1 issue affecting the security status of this pc. When I click to fix the firewall it says failed.
Any help would be appreciated.0 -
I tried using the Bitdefender removal tool and starting over but this didnt work. Also tried the patch thing again after doing this as you can see above.
So now I know its not GameSafe doing anything.0 -
Hello,
@Jarhead: I do suspect that you haven't removed Bitdefender completely. The uninstall tool can be found HERE
Save the file then open it. Click on the Uninstall button and wait to be asked to restart the PC. If you have any other security solutions make sure you uninstall them all before re-installing BitDefender. Note that all security solutions must be removed with the tool each Company provides. If you removed any software from Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel run the specific uninstall tool to remove all files.
The BitDefender GameSafe license key can be used to register BitDefender Internet Security 2009/2010.
I have sent you the instructions on how to correctly re-install BitDefender. That should resolve the firewall issue you are facing.
@DPB: email sent. Please check it, follow the steps and let me know if the issue persist.
Regards,0 -
Doing so now I also ran Revo and jv16 PowerTools to double check everything. If this doesnt work the only thing I know to do is a fresh install of Windows.

Hi Hamed Tehrani,
I only have XP, but I guess some issues with Vista or Seven could be the same, I mean we have to deactivate Windows XP's firewall before we can activate Bitdefender's firewall, run updates and so on... .
It could be the same with Vista and Seven.
And Seven's firewall is well hidden.
Sorry for the french version of "how does it work" below, however have a look at it , it indicates how to run Seven firewall(and how to deactivate it), I'm sure you could find with google the english similar help lines...
Start-< Run , type: wf.msc
I guess the issue is there, please tell us if it works...
Besides, I'm not hot at updating a system to another (98->XP, XPHome->Pro, XP->Vista (or Seven) I guess we can have issues too and the cleanest way is to install a software on a freshly formatted hard disk...

Hello Hamed,

I know this thread is getting a bit old, but I am now have these same problems in "Bitdefender Internet Security 2011".
I have just re-built a clean, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit box, and applied all applicable Windows Updates.
I have installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2011. The installation went ok, but from the very start Bitdefender could not start - I was getting the following error in the Windows event log
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011\bdagent.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
I eventually managed to solve this by installing the Visual Studio 2008 VC++ redistributable files. Would have been nice if Bitdefender could have managed this, but anyway...
I can now start Bitdefender, but if I attempt to enable the firewall, or run a virus scan, I get the following:
The BitDefender Security Service (vsserv.exe) is unavailable at the moment. Please restart the computer and try again..."
Now, in the past IS 2010 I have had this problem whenever I restarted my machine, and I could work around it simply my manually starting the virus should service (the automatic start never worked). However, with IS 2011, this service doesn't even seem to be installed - the EXE exists, but no such service.
Any ideas?0 -

Hi nchantry,
Did you deactivate windows firewall? it is necessary with Windows XP to be able to use Bitdefender, I guess it's necessary too with Seven Pro 64 bits... but I don't know the latter, simply patches are different according to the function, and I can't have access to the search function just now.
An expert will probably answer you soon...
Oh, you'd better put the message in a new thread in the Bitdefender 2011 file (you write you have BD IS 2011).

I've had the same issue, Firewall doesn't show any network adapters. When you try to turn the Firewall off you get an error that BitDefender Firewall failed to communicate with the bitdefender security service. I have ticket 201009031007868 opened for some time and have furnished numerous findings such as once the troubleshoot wizard is executed it reports drivers successfully loaded and I see VSSERV restarted and things work fine until next reboot. I would like the instructions of a possible work around. I've already uninstall, ran the new cleanup utility, CCLeaner, etc and nothing has worked on this laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. Thanks...

Hi,
I have the same problem. My BitDefender 2010 Firewall won't enable, no matter what.
Could you also please send me the procedure?
Also, I have seen that I can upgrade to BitDefender Internet Security 2011 for free.
Will this solve the problem?
If possible, I would like to avoid this, since I have a fairly old computer and do not completely match system requirements.
Thanks for your speedy response.0 -
Hello,
nchantry: the issues you encounter are due to a faulty upgrade from 2010 to 2011. Use the uninstall tool then restart the PC. Then use a registry cleaner and make sure there are no files or Windows registry entries still stored on your PC.
Restart the PC again and download the file below according to your computer architecture:
32bits:
http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2011_32b.exe
64bits:
http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2011_64b.exe
Proceed with the installation let us know if the situation will be fixed after following the above steps.

Hi, Im new to bitdefender. For some reason (maybe i press wrongly), Bitdefender has block my google chrome and also my windows 7 updates. My browser cannot load any web page, my window updates cannot download any updates. I believe is the firewall setting.

I had tried to unistall, re-install for like 3-4 times, but same result. Please help me, as i do not wish to format my pc just because of the bitdefender firewall block my access to the web.
I believe, enabling the firewall setting,...i can unblock my google chrome. Pleaseeee,...any experts out there,...need some help here!!!!0 -

I've been using BitDefender 2010 with Vista Home with no problem however, I just upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Vista and I can not enable the Firewall. I've gone into setting checked the "Firewall enable" apply and ok but it doesn't work. Here is the message listed on the Firewall section.
'Failed to communicate with the BitDefender Security service!'
Also it shows:
Computer IPs: no networks detected
Gateways: no gateways set

dldeha - first, welcome to the forum
If you did a true "upgrade" from Vista to Win7 while BDTS 2010 was still installed, that may be the problem. Upgrading the OS may have affected the previous installation of BDTS.
Unfortunately, I think the quickest solution is to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of BDTS now that you are running Win7. Before uninstalling BDTS, you will have to note down any current settings/options that you have made as these will be lost. Also make sure you have your current license key available.
Download and run the BD Uninstall Tool from HERE. Follow the on-screen instructions. Be sure to reboot the PC when it notifies you.
Reinstall BDTS. If you don't still have the original installation file, the links to the various products and versions can be found HERE. You didn't say if your Win7 installation was 32-bit or 64-bit so be sure to select the version of BDTS that matches your OS architecture.
Actually, this may be a good time to consider upgrading to BDTS 2011. It's a free upgrade that you can read more about HERE. Just make sure that your hardware (CPU speed & memory) meet the minimum requirements. There are links in the topic to the minimum system requirements for each product.

You're welcome. Let us know how it goes and if you need any additional help.
Actually, I have one very, very old laptop that does not meet the minimum requirements (see my sig) so I am running BDAV 2009 on it.
