Bumping. Thx.

I've had bitdefender for what? 8 years, it's never worked with Thunderbird. They've never fixed it, and I suspect they won't. False advertising.
-
It's not really an idea, it's standard practice. I don't know any other software that behaves this way except for malware :)
-
New installs should ask us if we want to install it or not, and if we say no, it should NEVER install after that. Also if we do install it and uninstall it, it should NEVER return. That is what should happen and isn't. I have my own VPN solution, much cheaper and better than bitdefender. Their free version is basically…

They know what they are doing and are well aware. It installs every time there is a new major version, on every PC I've used it on, and installs by default on a fresh install. This is obviously normal behaviour and it's totally undesirable for us (but of course they want it on our machines obviously - $$$).
-
Every time there is a new version, BitDefender VPN pops up as if by magic and I have to uninstall it again. Yes it happened again a few months ago. It's happened on Windows, my Android phone and on Mac. My conclusion is they are doing this on purpose which is a pretty poor show for an antivirus company. Also for years and…

I have the same issue. Windows 10. AntiSpam on. Grayed out toolbar. Thunderbird 91.3.0 Bitdefender 25.0.28.93 Useless!
-
Indeed...

Same here. Plus even if you uninstall it it keeps returning! https://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?/topic/82107-bitdefender-vpn-keeps-returning/

Good about time I can now stop using Linux. Perhaps we can have two months or more free added to our licenses eh?

Awesome research /index.php?/profile/215110-green456/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="215110" href="<___base_url___>/index.php?/profile/215110-green456/" rel="">@Green456! Any comments from BD? (Or will I get another moderator warning for this/post get deleted ?)
-
The feedback I'm getting is that the issue is BD with bitlocker enabled if people can confirm.
-
Just been given a warning from moderator for bumping this thread, go ahead read my posts and tell me what do you think. So now we aren't allowed to discuss it or complain about it, and are threatened with censorship. Thanks BD as a paying customer I think we are done now.
-
As these forums don't seem to do anything I will be spreading the word via Facebook and Twitter. I suggest others do the same.

Perhaps read the thread and look at the images and steps to repro next time (and there's another thread about ejecting USB drives). If…

You will see that WMI is enumerating something regarding encrypted drives. It opens a handle to the drive, sends some control commands to…

I can confirm USB card eject is fixed. However the USB card flashes all the time, it's difficult to nail down if this is BD or not (it's not the search indexer btw, I'm using a SD card I formatted with zero files). With the USB card out there is still a heck of a lot of I/O going on, see attached pic showing task manager…

1 hour ago, komtur said: I think this is because "our" fix (winmgmt restart) was performed with "fast start" on. Probably "fast start" stores a lot of settings, so when the computer was turned on again , the Bitdefender's state was the same as after the fix was made. When the fast start option is turned off, the computer…

17 minutes ago, komtur said: My happiness was premature. This problem is indeed related to the fast start option. With the fast start turned off, the problem of continuous disk reading occurs after each boot. Weird. I would expect it to be the other way around.

1 hour ago, jibi049 said: I don't use fast start because of my SSDs Constant read happens on every boot. When was the last time you checked? If you are using Win10 often it turns itself on after an update (even with SSDs).

Sudden brainwave. Has anybody tried disabling Windows fast start?

Just has one external HDD fail. I didn't unplug it damnit.
