Any news on when this is going to be fixed? At the moment, to avoid this, I have to offline all my flash drives (which I do anyway after shutdown). At startup I have SyncBackPro also run and this starts up my days periodic backups of data to external HDD and SSD and flash drives. To get over this really irritating problem…

Yet again, I start my system and BD tries to scan my drives. Put aside the fact that I left the setting as Disabled when I last shut down, it is ludicrous that even if this autoscan feature worked properly i.e. held the settings from one session to the next, it identifies drives as "New" even after having scanned them…

I added a flash drive to the exceptions. Bad move as it's now marked Read Only, which is apparently irreversible through diskpart and other methods. It can't be reformatted either. So it's adios to one good 32gb Sandisk flash drive.

A year on, and this still isn't sorted. I have just updated to the new Thunderbird 115, with all the extra work redoing my css files, and I find that this ridiculous toolbar is still being listed in my add-ons. I don't want it, it would do nothing for me anyway, and quite honestly I am tired of having 3rd party…

@alanrew Good points. I too am generally satisfied with BD after several years of use. As you point out, there are a number of circumstances, which may be Windows-oriented, other application software or hardware/firmware updates (BIOS), where interference by ANY AV can cause serious consequences. Whilst uninstalling it and…

Thanks @tihabil for that. I see that there is also a folder in Program Files\Bitdefender Security for the bdthunderbird78 xpi, which, is of course undeletable. Quite frankly, the clutter from Bit Defender Total Security is a disincentive to me, to buy it again. When I turn OFF the email Antispam option, nothing from…

I agree with you. There is a world of difference between "hardening" any AV so that a wrongdoer cannot disable or otherwise mess with it. Although I haven't yet gone through the ritual of uninstalling and reinstalling BD, it looks to me as if it could possibly be either uninstalled or disabled by a "bad actor" anyway,…

I'm currently considering this aspect of BitDefender, and would like to add my comment. Whilst I do not often update BIOS, and usually will not do so, this HP machine allows for BIOS updates via Windows Update or by using an HP utility to download a BIOS .exe update file to the machine. In either case, the BIOS update has…

@Alexandru_BD Thank you for your reply. I have looked again at the folder in question, and BD produces folders in there, all empty bar the two I want to delete (1.6gb in 2 files), from time to time i.e. it has today. I'm not sure which process does this, but it may be to do with scans. Meanwhile, I'll contact the engineers…

@Alexandru_BD Thanks for your reply. I've checked which files are open, either by the creator Bitdefender, or anything else, and these "temp" files are not. Despite being Administrator, and apparently having almost all rights over these files, I still can't take ownsership and delete them. It's not clear whether this is…
