  • Bitdefender developer here. This is a known issue with Rescue Mode and we are working to fix it. To get your boot configuration back to normal: once you are back into windows, rename the attached fix-uefi-bcd.txt ****** to .bat and run it as Administrator. What it does is restore the BootMgr default settings to boot…
  • All the files I finally figured out how to get off the hard drive of my friends computer since windows won't boot and my windows xp installation doesn't work are all read only. I can't acccess them to send to my external hard drive. Can't send them to an email recepient because I don't know what to put for the defauult…
  • That would make for an awesome wallpaper! Joking aside, can you tell us the pc model and/or manufacturer ? And the display type ? Looks like a dell lcd.
  • Before anything else, have you given unetbootin and LinuxLiveUsb a try ? I know these work with the Bitdefender RescueCD iso (using Karmic Koala as a preset). Maybe you can figure out what modifications LinuxLiveUsb does when writing the image to usb and apply them to grub4dos ? Our Total Security suite also has Rescue…
  • Please please do move those files from C:\ to another folder in the next Bitdefender version. It is really annoying to have these files in C:\ when you have set the Explorer to also show hidden files by default. Thank you so much spacemarine (late reply but) We considered starting rescue mode directly from our Program…
  • Since BD product update to 17.20.0.883 and Windows update to 8.1, I no longer get the error message. Computer restarts but just loops around to the Windows log in screen. So a step in the right direction but still no rescue mode. Bitdefender developer here, it would help me a lot to have some details about your hardware,…
  • I assume you are referring to the Rescue Mode component of Bitdefender 2012 and 2013 products. We also provide a separate Bitdefender Rescue CD (and iso image that users must burn on a CD), like all major antivirus vendors. Quick answers for your questions below: 1. Yes, a Windows Bitdefender product must be installed…
  • Is the problem solved now ? Is there a way to safely remove the number 9 that remained, or do I have to wait for a new build? Last 16.22.0.1534 didn´t finish the job. Yes, we pushed the fix with update 16.21. Users who were affected do have to clean the left-over entries manually (but new entries shouldn't appear any…
  • Never did try rescue mode on this machine with BDIS2012....attached phone video of startup screens Curious...what is sudo reboot Looking at the startup video, it seems to be a driver issue (possibly video related). I have only seen this behavior on a machine with a boot infector (probably not the case here). "sudo reboot"…
  • today when i try to boot into rescue mode then it offer me four bitdefender selection .....almost 4 ...... If anyone is having this problem, can you check that in this folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender Threat Scanner\bdrescue\data there are only these 3 files ?: - bdr-conf - drivemaps.txt -…
  • Thank you for helping us resolve this. Can you check that in this folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender Threat Scanner\bdrescue\data there are only these 3 files ?: - bdr-conf - drivemaps.txt - install-info.txt install-info.txt is the relevant one, it should contain 7 C:\ If the file doesn't exist,…
  • I'm assuming you are saying the problem might be with the video card in the box not working with BDIS 2012 Rescue Mode ? Will be locking forward to your findings on the NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT & Rescue Mode Found a DELL with NVIDIA 9500GT and Win7-64, but couldn't reproduce the issue. Did Rescue Mode work on this particular…
  • The config file looks fine. If the actual RescueMode files (bdr-im01.gz and bdr-bz01) are also in the root directory, I am guessing that video mode switching doesn't work. I'll try to find an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT and test Rescue Mode startup on it. Thank you so far.
  • I can not figure out in EasyBCD how to remove the extra tools entry for Bitdefender ? What/where module to I use in EasyBCD to remove the tools entry for Bitdefender Rescue Mode ? I just installed EasyBCD and apparently it does only support changing the main boot entries, and not the tools menu. To remove the tools…
  • Regarding the second issue I see based on your screenshot, apparently when you uninstall Bitdefender, the Rescue Mode entry in the Tools Menu on the bottom is not removed. We are trying to reproduce this internally and will issue an update once we identify the cause. To manually remove the left over entries from the Tools…
  • Thanks for helping us fix this. Based on the attached screenshot we identified an issue that prevents RescueMode from loading engines on x64: The RescueMode configuration is generated during installation of the Bitdefender product, and also each time you use the "Reboot in Rescue Mode" functionality. The configuration file…
  • (BD dev here). I asked QA about bug #530074 at mozilla and they said a fix for a bug very similar to #530074 will be put on update next Monday (July 30th). Thanks adean14, towley, firefoxenthusiast, astromax and the others for chasing this.
