I think AVG Tune up is Tuneup Utilities 2013. I use Tuneup Utilities 2013 and Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 without problems. Edited to add: Norton blows. My isp offers Norton for free, but I got infected with Norton so I switched to Antivir then I got Bitdefender in a deal for 0.13 and am happy with it.

I am having the same problem. The problem disappeared for days then reappeared.

It is no longer saying that. It has been a few days since I got the reboot required message in updates.

It just looks to be an error in the update module. I downloaded the eicar test file just to make sure it could still detect viruses and it does.

Last week I tried system restore. It wouldn't work in normal mode when trying to restore the computer or safe mode. I had to take Bitdefender Internet Security off the computer for it to work. Windows 7 I was just testing it to see if it worked with Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 right and it didn't.

It's back. It has to be something else causing it on Bitdefender's side.

I thought I update this problem to solved. I repaired the Bitdefender installation by start/bitdefender/repair or uninstall. That fixed it. I hope it helps someone else get rid of updates require restart problem.

I just find it odd that I am having the exact same problem. Edit: So far it looks like I fixed it. I went to bitdefender in all programs and selected repair not uninstall.
