Instsrv.exe is no longer being detected. However, as of 14 Jul 2007, srvany.exe is still being detected, but now as containing Application.Srvany.AK It had previously been detected as Application.Srvany.Y (as recently as 7 Jul 2007).

Srvany.exe and instsrv.exe are still being detected as viruses/malware. Please see the zip file two posts above for the files which were uploaded on June 5. Thank you. Gary

After not being detected for a couple of weeks, these two files are once again being flagged as viruses/malware. I have uploaded them in a previous post dated June 5th. Thank you.

I don't use torrents so I can't vouch for this firsthand, but I once read that torrents can really slow down a machine if you have your upload speed set too high. The gist of the information was "make sure your maximum upload speeds are set properly - if you upload too fast, it will choke your entire net connection, both…

On my side, deleting task.xml fixed the issue. Thanks. Fixed permanently? Or has it just been for a day or so? I have deleted the XML file in the past and it will work for a few days then the problems will come up again. As a test, I have set a task which is supposed to run every 15 minutes. It scans one small folder on my…

I too had purchased BitDefender online via a download option and therefore did not receive the Rescue CD. I have downloaded and burned the ISO imaged referenced in the link (http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/) above. This ISO is for BD v9 and was created back in August, 2006. At some point, will BitDefender be…

Niels, I have previously played around with the tasks.xml file more times than I can remember. I have even deleted it and started from scratch. I have done full uninstall/reinstalls of BD using the Uninstaller tool to be sure everything was cleaned up. While things might be okay for a day or two, after that they stop…

Cd-Man, Sorry to be slow to respond to this. I understand that the false alarms have been removed, but am still supplying the files originally marked as infected for your reference. password: infected Thank you. /applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=176" data-fileid="176" rel="">files4bd.zip

In my earlier post, I neglected to enter the names of the viruses/malware being detected on those modules. They are as follows: srvany.exe Detected: Application.Srvany.Y instsrv.exe Detected: Application.Instsrv.C

I have had scheduler issues for months. I started a thread on it in these forums back on 22 April, but never received a response. I also had an ongoing thread back on bitdforum.com. Again, no resolution. At least now my System Defined scans seem to be running via the scheduler without an issue. At one time I was having in…

Nevermind. My so-called 'problem' was that there were no Antirootkit entries in the Events list, so that selection did not appear in the drop-down list. For some reason, something pruned many of the events from my list, causing some of the entries in the drop-down list not to show up since there was no entries of their…

With the most recent update, the 'Antivirus' option has returned to the dropdown list. It appears I should qualify my above statement by saying that, on one of my machines, the 'Antivirus' option has returned to the dropdown list. I'm not sure why it is in the dropdown list on one of my machines but not the other. Both…

use this patch for those having problem with activesync! http://kb.bitdefender.com/KB340-en--BitDef...ActiveSync.html Since this page, and therefore the associated patch, no longer exists on the BitDefender site, is it safe to assume that this patch was incorporated into the latest set of updates?

Hi garyinri You are right in the past you can choose more options. But when you select all you will see all notifications. Or you can use a filter. Press on filter and uncheck what you don't want to view. I can't say when it happens but it came with one of the latest updates. Today there was a large update so it could be…

Thank you both for that info. This does not impress me at all. To say that jokes "might" contain nasties is fine; the same can be said about any executable! That's why we have AV programs. I think I should be the one to decide whether or not I want to keep unharmful stuff. Ozziepaul, If you feel that these files are no…

The schedules are stored in tasks.xml and tasks_system.xml and are based on the number of seconds which have elapsed since 1/1/70. Is there anyway to force BD to read these control files more frequently so that the scheduler initiates tasks at the scheduled times? Hate to bump my own post but was wondering if anyone from…

Hello to all You can all temporary try this before the signatures are being removed. Open BitDefender go to antivirus, shield, adjusted level don't scan this path on all levels and now add the files or folders that BitDefender detects as infected to the exclusion list. To do that during a on demand scan : rightclick on the…

That option would work fine for the real-time scanning, but I run into most of my issues with the On-Demand scanning, especially with the Deep and Full System Scans, which I run weekly via the scheduler. With the On-Demand scanning, there is no way to exclude a particular folder. You can only exclude file extensions. I'm…

How come I'm not seeing the option to "Ask"? I only see "Deny Access", "Disinfect", "Delete", or "Move to Quarantine"> You're looking at the option for the Real-time Scanning (Antivirus > Shield > Protection Level). I was referring to the options under the System and User Tasks. (Antivirus > Scan > Deep/Full/Quick/etc…

The problem I've run into in that when I run the System File Checker, for some reason it eventually asks for the Windows XP Professional CD2 media. I have Windows Media Center Edition. So, thus far, I have been unable to restore the files using the SFC. Luckily, it appears that these files have not been modifed by any…

My recent "Full System Scan" has suddenly started detecting Trojan.Starter.IM on two system files. This had never been detected in prior scans. I believe that it is a false positive. The files are: C:\i386\rsm.exe c:\windows\system32\rsm.exe This detection is only occurring on my WinXP Media Center Edition machine. I have…

In the PCWorld review that Rudi Bedy linked to a few posts back, the following was noted: "The program was badly hamstrung by serious slowdowns in our WorldBench 6 Beta 2 application performance tests on Windows Vista Ultimate, however. One Firefox test, for example, which loads a large number of different Web pages, took…

There you will see the option don't scan files larger then ... (you can fill in any value). Just a note, this option defaults to 5000 KB upon installation. So, unless you adjust it, you are by default not scanning files greater than 5000 KB.

I reinstalled BD AV10 (b247) on both my machines last night to see if it made any difference. (I first uninstalled using the BitDefender Uninstall Tool.) I scheuled two task to run on each machine. On one, both tasks ran. On the other, only one of the two ran. So, it doesn't appear that reinstalling solves any problems…
