  • Just to update this, I have not had any issues since the reinstall mentioned in my first post (apart from the occasional prompt from Windows saying I have no firewall etc, but when I go into action centre and check, everything's OK. I think it's just a minor integration issue). Looking forward to 2016 edition!

  • After hours of effort, I've found it's Active Virus Control (for me). I have disabled this in Bitdefender settings and chrome is fast again.
