Specifically, to clarify, the email I got from element5 had a link to the Dutch version in it, and support advised me to uninstall using the uninstall tool and reinstall a new download of the english version. Ack!

I have had this exact problem today downloading bitdefender AV from Australia, I have the Dutch vesion. I assume the program is working fine, but I've installed it for my inlaws so I am a bit annoyed as now it seems I will have to make a second trip here to sort it out. What is the problem here?
