  • Might it be in the middle of an update that somehow never finished properly?
  • Same here, thought it was a Mojave-bug, now I know better :-((( Does it actually harm system files? I see the shutdown-stall every single day since I upgraded to Mojave. Indeed: Bitdefender and Adobe CC are both installed. Read a lot of questions everywhere, but no one made this combination yet! Greetings, Ron.
  •  the problem returned in its full ugliness after being away for some weeks.

On the 2nd mac, no problem anymore : iMac MacOS 10.13.6 with HFS+ disk (not encrypted). Hm, maybe the key is the encryption. I do not have any…

  • That’s normal behavior, sometimes Bitdefender really has to check some files. Keep in mind that whatever page you open, lots of files are stored locally. And those are scanned. A few seconds is not a problem, in my opinion...
  • Hi! Thanks for the info! As far as I know scanning backups IS already excluded. The latest adventure turned out to be preparing for an update, combined with some form of scanning. What is left over is the Time Machine-interference. Everytime it stopped backups when it found ancient malware in ancient mail archives in my…

Restarted and the pending update appeared to fix the issue. Now running 7.0.1.2 I've ran Antivirus for Mac for over a year without any issue (install and…
  • 44 minutes ago, LWC said: Well, I uninstalled BitDefender and bought ESET Cyber Security PRO. Problem solved! Too bad I had payed for the BD one year subscription, money thrown away. Thinking about that too. The disadvantage is that now I know what to expect from Bitdefender, other software might have other quirks...
  • After chatting with support, this one looks like a case of just bad timing. Where a background scan was running, but ALSO a program update came in. After a while a notification appeared which toldme that Bitdefender downloaded updates and required a restart. It would be sooooo handy if the main window of the scanner shows…
  • Ok, this problem stopped by itself. Maybe a background scan was going on? But why Bitdefender never mentions that then?
  • Yep back to square one running like this for over an hour now
  • It seems to start all over again. This time BDLDaemon is the troublemaker, continuously at around 99% cpu usage after a program update yesterday. PLEASE BITDEFENDER DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MESS, SOMETHING IS FAR FROM OK IN YOUR PRGRAMMING DEPARTMENT!!! I am going to look for another scanner, this is unworkable. :-((((
  • This whole story made me worried about the nearing macOS system upgrade to Mojave. Already Bitdefender support advised me to uninstall before applying the upgrade. And then reinstall the scanner. Must keep that in mind somehow.
  • 1 hour ago, OuttaHere said: I installed the latest version and it did seem to resolve the CPU usage problem. However, the installer automatically installed Bitdefender's VPN. I already use a VPN that I'm happy with and I don't like software developers installing software without my permission. I couldn't find any way to…

A fresh install from your Bitdefender Central account will ensure you have the update as well. Hi! Could you please inform us about what happened and what were those continuous writes about?…
  • Bitdefender support just confirmed the bug is killed!
  • I run now this version, can anyone confirm this is a new one? Forgot to check the old version number :-/
  • Lo and behold! The bug has dissappeared. Switched off mac completely and turned it on again. So somehow there is a newer version available. Looks like a normal update is not working, Bitdefender and its folders have to be completely uninstalled/removed first and then installed again. Can someone from Bitdefender confirm a…
  • Reinstall does seem to solve the problem. Didn’t restart after reinstall though. This I will do in a moment. Will keep you all updated. Unfortunately I see Bitdefender downloading and installing an update. This might be once again the broken version :-(
  • BITDEFENDER, YOUR SOFTWARE IS DAMAGING MACS ON A LARGE SCALE. WE NEED ANSWERS. NOW
  • 3 minutes ago, Paul_T said: Unfortunately the absence of bdagentd following the BD update after I switched my mac back on and BD did an automatic "update" was not sustained, and so I have now uninstalled it. I would be interested Cooltalk to hear from you again later if, having reinstalled it, this is a sustained fix for…
  • Just restarted computer, bdagentd even higher cpu will uninstall now and once again a reinstall. WHY on earth no one from Bitdefender replies here?
  • 1 minute ago, Paul_T said: Have Bit Defender just sorted out this problem but not put a post to say so on this forum? I just turned my Mac back on with the intent of uninstalling BD and it came up with a BD update. Following this, at the moment, bdagentd is not coming up on my activity monitor, and my mac is running cool…
  • Called Apple once more, they say this is damaging hardware. Might not fall under guarantee. Is anyone from Bitdefender reading along? If so: what is the status of a bug fix? We must know, it’s in the middle of a hot summer and systems get overheated. At least make it possible for us to roll back to a stable version!
  • Situation got much worse, now continuously around 90% cpu, 20 GB written in only a few minutes, noticable system slowdown. PLEASE Bitdefender, do something about this major bug.
  • 11 minutes ago, J818383 said: Same issue here on both of my macs. This is simply not acceptable. I've had this problem since buying Bitdefender over a year ago and it's getting worse with every update. Consistently hogging 80-95% of CPU causing my machines to heat up to the point I'm having to run MacFans program with the…
  • I also see that it stays VERY quiet from the side of Bitdefender. I really expected a reply on my support mails etc and an emergency patch. I fear though that they are just too small to handle such major bugs very efficiently. Think it’s time to move on to some other solution, because I can’t let my expensive hardware be…
  • 42 minutes ago, OuttaHere said: I just found this forum while researching this problem. I've had Bitdefender for Mac for about a year. In the last couple of days I noticed unusual CPU usage and bdagentd was the culprit. I have an iMac and I didn't see any increased temps, but there was a lot of data being written to my…
