I have to add my voice to those that are seriously disappointed in BD decision to remove the local backup option from 2012. I have a file server that was using this feature on a daily basis backing up between 2-5 gigs/night of data & I have always found this a pleasurable & easy solution. Now I have to go out & source a…

Okay, Im running XP 64 bit, and BD2010 home version. After i ran my XP disc again to get back into Windows, i tried to run the Repair/Uninstall option in BD, but the repair option was greyed. I assumed reinstalling BD would at least allow me to open and update the program (as i was getting DButils.dll errors when i trying…

@Chimel Thank you for your feedback on this issue and it is good to know that the Rescue CD works properly. This is the second positive feedback on the forum. Indeed, the bootable cd option is the easiest one for the customer but, as you could see, it was not the fastest one to be released and some customers just could not…

That is correct. For an easier search look on the back of the laptop for a Service TAG or Model. That will help you find the specific drivers on the manufacturer's website faster. DanyDan. This still is not helping me. Acer does not provide a recovery disk online for their laptops. They have all of the drivers/programs…

See, that is why I never liked prebuilts & laptops. There is no reason why the store cannot give you a recovery disc in case they need to fix windows. What you might be able to do is go to the manufacturer's website for your HDD & download drivers to a flash drive if possible to install on the other. Correction on this. I…

What happens when you try to install the drivers? That may be why it cannot see the OS. I need to have a disk with the drivers. None came with the laptop

Is there a way to point to where the OS in installed? The only option it gives me is to install drivers.... (they say for the HDD) which are locked in the recovery portion of the HDD I assume.... which I still haven't figured out how to access. Any ideas?

QUOTE (hep1 @ Mar 21 2010, 12:29 PM) * http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vist...-disc-download/ It should work Thank you hep1! I will try this disk on my laptop & update if it works. Ok. Grabbed the ISO, burned the image, was quite hopeful when I got the option to select repair my system. Sadly it doesn't see the OS.

Please read the following quote from Post: 1348 @taekwonjudo: can you please update me on the issue you are facing ? Thank you for understanding. I have an acer laptop that cannot boot. (Win Vista x64) I do not have a recovery CD for Vista. I cannot get to safe mode to use a restore point. I downloaded TS 2010 as an…

Great. And where do I go to make that hapen without having to wait 3 weeks for a reasonable response unlike the issue I have had with your backup for 4 weeks now? Could I please have someone from BD update me on this? My post has obviously gotten understandably buried. Thanks for your efforts.

@Jando: you made a valid point there: this is definitely something that we are learning from; interesting points about compensation, thanks. I'll keep you updated on this. @jando well written & very correct. However, I personally would like to see BD offer choices of compenesation. Either A or B & in provable extenuating…

My dear fellow Bitdefender users, Could we be a little matur.e about this? Some people have suffered more than others and there should be a good compensation. Bitdefender will (I guess) make everyone (most of us) happy (I hope). I lost 14 hours myself of figuring out, checking 15 PC's and repair. Situation before…

@taekwonjudo: In such cases, normally, there should be a recovery partition which can be appealed by BIOS. In this case, in order to offer you further support we will create a Ticket ID for you and help you with further instructions via email. Great. And where do I go to make that hapen without having to wait 3 weeks for a…

@Realtor99: If you do not mind, we would like to move this discussion regarding the compensations on another topic - Compensation For False-positive Of Trojan.fakealert.5?. I am not able to provide you with an answer right now but we will take it in consideration and I will post on that topic as soon as possible.…

Mind you, it's 8:47 AM where their headquarters is situated. They have been working on this all night. and so they should! This has been the WORST infection I've seen in 20+ years working in computers!

lol looks like the mod and tech support just split.Hmmm,wonderful. Are you surprised after this enoch? lol

Ok. They are posting a solution for everyone who has a windows CD on the home page now... but what about those of us who have laptops that you have screwed up BD?!? What solution do you offer those of us who were never provided the windows disk to begin with?!?
-
That's why I haven't rebooted or run system restore myself.I'm afraid it will cause further problems. All the quarantined files are still there just need a way to recover them. Enoch, have you been able to update the latest patch for BD? In other words is the program no longer giving you the false positive? If so... have…

How about a fix for all laptop users who don't have disks to use nor restore points?!?
