What happened to the password-protect Bitdefender settings feature?
I used to have a password to protect bitdefender settings from being tampered/disabled, but now that option is missing.
It used to be in the general settings tab, but now it's gone. I wonder if they've actually removed this feature or is it a bug?

I think they upgraded from Family Pack to Small Office Security a few months ago. You can't tell the difference from a screenshot only, because both packages are based on Total Security and apart from some particularities of the packages, the interface looks basically the same. However, there will be some visual changes for Small Office Security in the very near future, and this will certainly eliminate any potential confusion. 😉

Hi @Mark24
It looks to be a glitch on your end. Here is where I'm at with build 27.0.38.163 (right click the BD system tray icon/about)
I would run a repair, and see if that resolves it for you.
Kind regards.

Hi,
The setting is definitely there. What version are you on @Mark24 ?
If your Bitdefender has updated to the latest build 27.0.38.163, try running a repair, as Scott suggested above and let us know if the feature comes back.

I'm running Bitdefender Total Security
Build: 27.0.38.163, same as Scott.
Unistalling and reinstalling didn't fix the issue, the password option is still missing.0 -
Hello @Mark24
In that case, I would contact support from here:
Select, How Tos & Troubleshooting→Troubleshooting and go through the prompts until you get to the black Contact Support box. You will have the option of Chat, Call or Email. Chat is the quickest way to get thing started, phone support is not toll-free.
Kind regards.

I just checked and you have a Bitdefender Small Office Security subscription, and this doesn't have the password protection feature, because this is set from Central by the admin.

No wonder. In the future, how could we know or tell from a screenshot, or can't we, if it's a Small Office Total Security version? So Mark must have changed his subscription of what was once there (password settings), then are gone?

Thank you, Alex. There is another thread regarding my suggestion for Family Pack, but they may be better off with Small Office? It's just something I need to be up to date on better, and any small UI changes would be helpful :)

Yes that's it, I used to have Family Pack and switched to Small Office Security. Everything looks exactly the same, except for the password feature.
Thank you @Scott and @Alexandru_BD for being so helpful.2 -
You're welcome, Mark24 :) This thread and another, have been a helpful learning curve for me :)

Hey All, I'm having the same issue, with a slight variation - The password option is gone, but on my kids' machines, where I enabled the feature, some of the settings (like the firewall) are not editable. When I go online to BD Central, there's no admin password setting there either.
How do I correct this?0 -
Depending on your version of bitdefender you have to go to the BD Central —> My devices —> Set administrator password.
Only problem is, for some reason bitdefender removes the password on its own after some time, just like it used to do when the option was available at the settings tab.
It's one of the major security flaws of bitdefender imo and it's been going on for years now.0 -
Hello @UserZero,
If the Firewall disables itself or cannot be enabled at all, first thing to check would be the Base Filtering Engine Service (BFE):
What other modules appear inactive?
