Bitdefender not detecting anything, but TotalVirus does. What the hell?

help pls . I just installed Bitdefender. I heard good things about it before, and I used to have Kaspersky. I got a file from a friend to test, but nothing came up from Bitdefender. However, when I used TotalVirus, it detected this. What is going on?

You need to understand the different categories of Bitdefender engines available on VirusTotal.

The Bitdefender Falx engine is for only Android malware.
The Bitdefender Theta engine is completely based on machine learning/artificial intelligence. It is not available in any of the Bitdefender products, whether for home users or business/enterprise users. It has a high chance of false positives. However, it provides malware researchers an option to check if the detected file is indeed malicious. If it is, a detection will be created against it, and the detection will be seen under the standalone Bitdefender engine.
The standalone Bitdefender engine on VirusTotal is the same as what is available in Bitdefender products for home users and business/enterprise users.

Since the Bitdefender standalone engine does not show any detection in VirusTotal, your Bitdefender product will also not show it.
