Why does the bitdefender VPN slow my download speed by 30%?

I performed a speed test with VPN on and then turned VPN off. Speed with it on was around 625 mbps. Off it is 947 mbps. Why does VPN slow things so much?

Hi @LD

If you have BD VPN set to connect Automatically, try manually connecting it to a different location, it can work wonders. But, I'm not sure if once you get into the higher ISP speed range, i.e. 947+, it would have the same result as mine.
