Microsoft Defender Still Running Despite Settings

Hello all. I installed BitDefender and configured it to run all things antivirus, firewall, etc. and sht down Windows Defender. But without fail, Windows Defender shows up in Task Manager as running alongside BitDefender. This is creating issues in and of itself. I try to "End Task" but get an "Access Denied" even though it's my laptop. At this point, I' all ears for suggestions, given at this point I can go make a cup of coffee and watch a game while my laptop starts up and figures out what it wants to do. Cheer in advnace for your help.
