Renewal

By trying to renew his Bitdefender memberschip, my husband got the message that there was allready another virusprotection linked to the PC he wanted to protect. This Mcafee was probably pre-installed. Strangly ony the name of Mcafee has been mentioned in the list of Apps, but without mentioning any Megabites. So there seems to be no digital presence, only the name of Mcafee.and there seems to be NO WAY to uninstall this App. He has never used this program, never subscribed in any form and does not want to "subscribe" in order to "unsubscribe"... How can he proceed now to properly renew our Bitdefender subscription ?

    Hi @MaClere_2328,

Can you actually find any traces of McAfee in your system settings - 'add or remove programs' menu? During the install process, does Bitdefender suggest there is another security solution installed on the device? If yes and McAfee cannot be removed using the traditional methods for some reason, use their uninstall tool (Option 2 from the below article - MCPR tool) as this should normally remove any traces of their security software from your system:

    https://www.mcafee.com/support/s/article/000001616?language=en_US

Then proceed with a clean install of Bitdefender and let us know how it goes.

In the event McAfee is not actually installed on your device, but you received a pop-up mentioning viruses or renewals, then this is a fake notification and you can find out how to remove it here:
