Bitdefender on Honor phones

Hi! I am the developer of the "Driver Card Reader Pro" Android application. Recently, four of our users encountered a false alarm from Bitdefender on their Honor phones. Other antivirus software (Norton, Avast, AVG, Kaspersky, etc.) did not report any issues. Is there someone at Bitdefender who monitors this list? Unfortunately, I have not received a response to my email sent to office@bitdefender.com .

  • Hello.
Only the anti-malware researchers at Bitdefender Labs can help you with the issue.
You should report the file(s) and/or the URL(s) as false positive to Bitdefender Labs here:

  • Thank you very much! 🤓

  • Hello @Lobol Team,

Are you sure you have Bitdefender Mobile Security installed on that device? I'm asking because by the looks of it, that's not a notification from Bitdefender, but from Trustlook: https://www.trustlook.com/

Anyway, that alert is clearly a false positive, but I think you should contact Trustlook in this regard.

  • Hello!

I could not reproduce this alert myself. But two of the four users clearly said Bitdefender was installed on their phones (they sent the screenshots), and two didn't deny it when I asked. I am also attaching the screenshot sent by the second user.

I have installed the Trustlook application and I see that it does not look like my screenshots. In addition, when the Trustlook application is launched, their icon appears in the Android notification area, which I do not see in my screenshots. Why do you think it's Trustlook?

In any case, I will contact both TrustLook and the four users to clarify the situation.

    Thanks!

  • It is very likely that "Bitdefender Antivirus" (and not "Bitdefender Mobile Security") is installed on the phones. Isn't this a product of the same company?

  • The images you’ve shared are of Trustlook Antimalware and are nowhere near Bitdefender Antimalware. You need to recheck this. You can search for Bitdefender on the Android Play Store and you will see the difference in the icon image, which will show you the distinction.

I would have downloaded your app to check if Bitdefender's real-time protection or a manual scan would detect it as malicious, but unfortunately, the app is not available for installation in my country, as you can see in the shared image below.

However, there's an alternative for you. You can upload your app to the VirusTotal website to see which vendors detect the file as malicious and if Bitdefender is one of them.

If that’s not possible, you can download the VirusTotal app from the Google Play Store and scan your entire device with it. This will provide information about each app installed on your device, indicating whether they are malicious and which vendors detect them. You can also check your app to see if it is detected under the Bitdefender section. You can download the VirusTotal Android app from the Google Play Store ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.funnycat.virustotal&hl=en_IN )

  • I downloaded VirusTotal and checked my application with it. None of the virus scanners found it infected. After that, I absolutely do not understand why the warning appeared on some users' phones (only on Honor phones).

I just noticed that the name and logo of TrustLook is at the bottom of the first picture I attached. I apologize to everyone whose time I stole. I don't understand why my users claim to use Bitdefender. Thanks again for everything. I will contact the developers of TrustLook.

  • Nice to know that your issue has been resolved, at least from Bitdefender's end.
