Why does Bitdefender open itself multiple times at startup?

Every time I start my iMac, Bitdefender opens itself at least twice putting multiple app icons in my task bar. This morning it opened four times, and I now have four Bitdefender apps open. This is maddening. Does anyone have a solution to fix this? Thanks.

  • Hello @hgheiss,

Are there multiple users on the machine? What version of Antivirus for Mac do you have?

  • I live alone, so I am the only user on this iMac computer, running Vertura version 13.6.9.

I am using Bitdefender version 10.2.0.9.

Another helpful soul on the internet suggested that I try uninstalling Bitdefender and then reinstalling it. I did that about 30 minutes ago, and I now have two versions of Bitdefender running simultaneously. I guess that's a slight improvement, since before I had four versions of Bitdefender running simultaneously.

  • I understand, thanks for following up. Ok, try this: uninstall, restart in safe mode, login, reboot normally, download a new agent from central with bootstrap, install it.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Alex

To add, after a successful uninstallation, when you proceed with reinstallation, make sure to first remove your current device from your Bitdefender Online Central account by following the procedure in the link stated below.
