Any recommendations on setting-up VPN before connecting to the internet?
I'm new to VPNs, and I noticed that by using the Bitdefender app you need to login and/or download Bitdefender which temporarily exposed your IP address.
What are the best ways to configure your VPN before connecting to the internet (i.e. temporarily using Windows firewall settings with Bitdefender credentials/servers) while you get everything set up.

I have connected to VPN but it still shows that my IP address is still exposed. Help, please.

Hello,
To address the first question, I recommend to activate the Kill-Switch option, possibly also Ad-blocker and Anti-tracker, then set the Auto-connect rules. If you wish to use the VPN all the time, at least set autoconnect at device startup.
@MaggieJ where exactly do you see that you are exposed? If you use a service available online, like "what is my IP" or something similar, they will all display "exposed", because that's how they are configured, they don't actually detect if you use a VPN, but only if your IP is visible or not. When you turn the VPN on, those apps will see the IP of the VPN server. Such tools are not very accurate, in my opinion.

Thanks, Alex, for your help. I am now showing that my IP is hidden, and this is displayed on the connection page that shows the world maps. I do have it set up as automatic, and I also have an ad blocker and an anti-tracker activated in my settings. I am not very tech savvy, and I was recommended to get VPN coverage when I installed Bitdefender on my PC and phone. I was surprised to see that my address was not hidden the other day, so I just reached out for help. I truly appreciate you helping me. Have a great day
